Smile Your Local Track

seems most of us must have found a love for racing at a small local track

somewhere to see the action live weekly

i thought we could get to know each others little world a little better by sharing our local track

Unity Raceway - Maine's Toughest Oval <---there's where i spent alot of saturday nights for over 20 years

Delaware Motorsports Complex

but even with all the bad racing luck my favorite place was/is
linconl speedway in handover PA.

News & Results

But I growup on saturday nights at Dorsey speedway, in howard county MD.

Dorsey Speedway
But it closed in the late 80's and is now a industrail park.

on the brighter side, a friend of mine(with money) is biulding a 5/8 paved, highbanked oval about 20.min from here.
but it will be a private track has he can not get permitts to run it as a business.

Cool thread

This is where I spend Friday nights whenever I can.
Golden Sands Speedway Online

It's a 1/3 high banked oval, it's asphalt but...still a good place.

Re: Your Local Track

I am originally from California, but moved to rural Nevada last year. In Ca., I pitted on an IMCA Modified team for about 10 years. We raced at All American Speedway (Roseville), Shasta Speedway (Anderson), Stockton 99 Speedway, Ukiah, Lakeport, and a couple others. Most tracks were run pretty well and we had a LOT of fun and won more than our share of races. These were paved tracks.
Now that I am in northern Nv., its much different. The closest track to me is about 5 miles away, and is a dirt track called Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon, Nv. It is a very fast track, but unfortunately, is also very unorganized. I blame that on the fact that there is no curfew. The 4th of July racing had heat races were still being run at MIDNIGHT when we finally left. But it's still fun just being a spectator now.

Re: Your Local Track

Lebanon I-44 Speedway
Some of the greatest racing I have ever seen between Larry Phillips, Archie Grifffen, Steve Holt, and Kenny Dickenson.
I miss those days.
It was a dirt track in the eightes and has reverted back to dirt which isn't a bad thing. I like dirt racing too

Re: Your Local Track

GREAT thread, Simon!

Here in Mobile we have three really good tracks within an hour's drive.

Welcome to mobilespeedway.com (Home track for Rick Crawford-CTS and Cale Gale-formerly of ARCA)

Five Flags Speedway - Home of the World Famous Snowball Derby! (Home of the Snowball Derby, held each year the first week in December and draws drivers from ARCA, Hooters, ASA, DIRT, and from all over the midwest and east coast)

South Mississippi Speedway Dirt Track Stock Car Racing

Plus we have two little dirt tracks, one in Bayou La Battre, AL and another up in Flomaton, FL.

In addition, the Earnhardts are trying to build a 7/8's-mile track and racing complex here. It's being met with moderate acceptance.

Thunder Road - Official Website for Thunder Road

Thunder Road "The Nations Site of Excitement". Not that anyone cares but the track is owned by Ken Squire ... at least in part.

Re: Your Local Track

A very good friend of mine Eric Schmidt, has been spanking them pretty good in the Northern California Late Model scene. When I was pitting for my other buds modified, Eric was just starting out in mini-stocks at 16 years old. He has numerous wins and titles and had/has Cup asperations, but just hasnt been in the right place at the right time, and now at 30, his time is passing fast. Check out his teams site.....
Golden State Racing :. Home

Below is Eric and his team. The 5th guy back is Eric Snyder (aka meathead) who is an amazing chassis builder and setup guru who went to high school with Schmidt. The two Erics have proven to be a formidable team for the past 14 years......
