CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Former NASCAR champion Benny Parsons has been diagnosed with lung cancer and began chemotherapy treatments Wednesday.

This is a tough battle, A lot of prayers will be needed for Benny and his family. Link to story.

Depending on what stage his diagnosis is, you either need all your strength to fight this disease or you choose to continue to live the best quality of life while you still can.

He and his family have my prayers as well. Unlike most people, I like Benny. He is my favorite announcer just because of his likeable personality. I hope he wins this battle.

Why is he broadcasting today? He sounds horrible...not that I'm sayiing what he should and should not do but c'mon....

Knowing that he is battling cancer I can't help but get a knot in my stomach listening to him. Anyone that has dealt with cancer or had a loved one knows you need to fight it 110%... I luv Benny a bunch, but I can't believe someone couldn't have made him skip todays race.

Yesterday they announced he wasn't feeling well and wouldn't be broadcasting the Busch race.....I sure wish he would put his health and well being first.
