Thanks! And props to the #24 team as well. Jeff goes 3 laps down and ends up finishing on the lead lap!

Another timely caution. I'll give him one thing, he did have a strong car, but he should had to have come from a lap down.

Actually, I thought they closed West Capitol Speedway sometime in the mid-late 70's, but I could be wrong. I went there many times as a teen and in my early 20's. In fact my father in law sponsor Mike Wasina while he was Track Champion. I know a lot of guys who raced there including Gene Welch who is now deep in his 80's. Even to this day, a lot of people say it was one of the best dirt tracks ever.

Nevada, believe me, it's really crap to get old and develop Teflon brain!

I'm not sure went they closed Capital but I'm sure I attended a couple races there in 1979. I have the program here in front of me. I see Mike Wasina was Silver Dollar Champ in 1971. Good job! I also see that Jimmy Boyd was a champ there, too. Wasn't he the driver who won the very first WoO race at...? It was either Devil's Bowl or Chico.

I can't say I saw Ernie Irvan running there. The more I think about it, I believe it was in Stockton where we first saw a young Ernie. If I recall, he was running a blue/white Chevelle.

You must be correct when West Capitol closed. I got out of going to circle track races in the early 70s and started doing the 1/4 mile drag thing, so wasnt sure exactly when it closed. I didnt get back into circle track racing until 1990, when we ran all the NorCal paved tracks with the modified and late model. Yep, Ernie Irvan was definately a Stockton 99 Speedway regular.

Just what they needed too, Biffle gets wrecked on the last lap and Jeff gains a spot in the chase in a car with a broken sway bar. If you had told me that on the previous lap I would have called you a liar. I would have liked to have seen where he would have ended up if biffle and kasey finished where they should have.
