I'm in agreement Bob. I've been to a few races and have found that sitting in my comfy chair/couch/floor at home is far more comfortable than sitting in the hot sun next to some sweaty, drunk loudmouth wearing a wife beater T-shirt and passing gas that would kill a gorilla. I've had the pleasure of sitting in a corporate suite at Charlotte M.S. but in doing that you fall victim of the TV screens located in the suite. Great place to be but I'd still rather sit at home. It is great to be at some of the tracks but as far as seeing the entire track and replays of the incidents ..... home is the place. And yes the beer is cheaper and usually colder.

Yeah, the perfect photo would be that of Godon and Johnson on their roofs side by side.

That would be great, but what if we add their numbers together and make them that many laps down: 48 + 24 = 72 laps down
That would make me be cheezin', so I'll bring the cheese for their whine!!

I caught his interview after his qualifying attempt and he was asked that exact question. He said he and his sponsors had talked it over and they said "No."

The down side is that he'll probably be in the booth or near a microphone somewhere tomorrow.

Re: Allstate 400 at the Brickyard Race Discussion

Great post, Bob

From the prerace interviews, I thought Dale Jr sure was lowering expectations. He said something about we've got an ok car & we'll just do the best we can. I got the feeling that he's already written off this season. But that would be hard to believe if he's half the competitior that I always thought that he was.

I believe Dale the Minor is a little more than half the driver most of his fans think (or maybe "hope" is a better word?) he is. I heard Junior's comment and I took it that he was just being realistic. I think Junior is well aware that if a driver fails to live up to his own pre-race predictions, he tends to look like a smuck.

Personally I feel more than a little sorry for Junior. If I had to spend my entire life working in the shadow of a driver like Dale Sr. I'd end up running screaming out of the track.

I believe Junior is well aware that if his last name was Schultz, Ledbetter, or something other than Earnhardt, he'd probably be asking customers, "Do you want filters with that lube job, sir?" instead of being an icon and a household name. I see Junior as a kid who had to grow up too soon and much too publicly. I'm far from being part of the Legion of the Red Army Ants, but... I still respect the kid and wish him well.

Sorry Grandma. Looks like Kasey took a real beating today. Lost 4 places in the standings.
