Question officials

Does each track have it's own NASCAR officials "in the booth" to make the calls? Or, do the same officials travel to each race. If each track has its own officials I could see the reason for the inconsistency in some of the calls.

I'm pretty sure it's the same traveling circus of idiots up there, and in the pits. If I'm wrong someone correct me.

To the best of my knowledge, Q88 is correct, it's a traveling circus (the operand word being "circus). Scorers, pit monitors, just about everything having to do with the race itself is controlled by NASCAR.

One area where the drivers have lobbied to have NASCAR people take over for track-contracted personnel is Crash Crews and EMS people. The drivers who have run IRL have especially been vocal. They want someone who is specially trained in crash trauma and someone who personally knows the drivers; who isn't some stranger who shows up to pull you out of a wreck. IRL, CART and F1 all have this and it works quite well.
