OT: Nascar fans and music

I am mainly doing this to get a new forum for random stuff that I requested, so I'll see if I can get some people to help the cause. I need at least 5 threads with at least 3 member who show actual interest.

Just post some stuff about who you like and some of the songs you like.

I am one person that still hangs on to what was once a great [family ] tradititon of Nascar and country music that the kids today just dont understand. Some of my many favorites include (quite a luandry list) John Denver, Hanks Sr, Jr. and III, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon and Shooter Jennings, Jerry Reed, The Desert Rose Band, Dale Watson, Alabama, Tom T Hall, George Jones, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, The Statler Bros., Ray Scott... I stay far, far away from most of todays new artists or "pop" country.

top 5 favorite songs
1. Take Me Home Country Roads, John Denver
2. Country State Of Mind, Hank Jr.
3. If Heaven Aint Alot Like Dixie, Hank Jr.
4. Are The Good Times Really Over, Merle Haggard
5. One Step Forward, The Desert Rose Band
I Like Beer by Tom T Hall isnt bad either

Hey BBW you are going to luv the radio tunes in my signature!!

My music preference is the 80's. It reminds me of a very fun time in my life (Paaarteeeee) and makes me feel happy.

Good luck with the forum...now you can go in the cellar and check out Granny and mine forum efforts for bull riding/rodeo...thanks!!

I'll do what I can. No offense to those who participate, but personally, I ignore a thread that is about a certain Nascar subject, but goes way off topic and becomes nothing more than chat.

As far as Country Music, I am a hard rocker at heart, and have been my whole life. Although I do like most of the classic country from the 50s/60s. In fact my recent move to rural Nevada from California has given me a new light on country music.
There is an AM station (KHWG The Hog) here that my co-worker players and it is very similar in content to the link TN_Gal provided. I find it enjoyable and upbeat. Honestly, I can't stand the newer country stuff. Given a choice, my favorite music is 80s Metal.

Thanks for the link TN_Gal, right now Tennessee Houndog is playing.

I don't care much for the new country either, I love this station, only problem is I'm on dial up and have to free my phone up once in a while.I findly forced myself to click it off so I could go to bed last night.

My musical interests range from one extreme to another. I like some country, but no lying, dying crying in my beer songs. I like some hip hop/dance. Can't forget the reagge or the disco!!! I like most metal and thrash, soft rock, hard rock, alternative/punk and I'm a big 80's head. I love all kinds of music, just have to be in that frame of mind, like if I want to listen to dance music, country just isn't gonna cut it, etc.. My all time favorite group is INXS, before Hutch died. Closely followed by Charlie Sexton, Adam Ant, U2, The Cure, Metallica and lately Korn just to mention a few in this post. My all time favorite song is IF by bread, but I really like Freak on a leash by Korn, as said my musical love is from end of the spectrum to the other. I'm really motivated by music, I'd just as soon listen to music then turn on the t.v. any day.

3.HIGHWAY MEN

I like the 80's also, but too many to name,

all time favorite
1.70's rock n roll, can't go wrong with that

Re: OT: Nascar fans and music

I am all over the place with what I like too. I do like some of the newer country music, just not the "pop" country. I like most of what has been already mentioned. Some I like but did not see are Brooks & Dunn, Sarah Evans, Pat Greene. Kenny Chesney, Montgomery Gentry, Tim McGraw, and Deana Carter.
I also like all types of rock music. 80's 1st wave alternative and 80's "Hair Bands". I also like bands like Foreiner, The Cars, Boston, Brian Adams (the old stuff), 38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes just to name a few. I also love the 70's funk and soul stuff like Earth wind and Fire, etc. I also like all types of Jazz music.
But my all time favorite is The Boss, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Especially the albums pre-Born in the USA.
