When you are inside, not in a group where the colours are being presented to that group, you are NOT required to stand and remove your cover for the flag.
That being said, in MY house, and when I am anywhere and hear the Star Spangled Banner, or Taps, I remain silent and respectful.

If another wants to gaff off their respect to our colours that's entirely up to them, but, IMNSVHO, it says a whole lot about their character.

did you guys notice that last week (or maybe the week before) when they made the announcement to rise for the star spangled banner the announcer said for gentlemen to remove your hats, not ladies & gentlemen. I don't think people think about ladies removing their hats because of sterotyping and not thinking of women wearing hats (meaning baseball type) like so many do now. Maybe if the announcers start saying ladies & gentlemen please remove your hats Delana will get the hint. Plus I bet if you checked out the stands alot of the women don't take them off either.
