Just finished compiling the list of http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/other...html#post34539 and thought all the Tony Stewart fans would like to know that he won the ESPY for Best Driver. So, partisanship aside, was he the most deserving recipient of the honor?

Yes, definately Tony deserves that honor, in the recent 2-3 years he has been the best, no doubt.

I can't really argue, he's been the guy to beat lately.

Love him or hate him, the guy is probably one of the best pure drivers on the planet. His driving display at the recent IROC race at the Daytona road course was awesome. He whooped on some of the best road course drivers in the US. I would love to see him hop in an F1 car and give Shumacher or Alonso fits!

OK, Smoke winning best driver was definately well deserved by him. Can anyone enlighten me on who his competition was for the catagory?

Tony really bothers me, but I cant argue either. He nearly got the Iroc title locked up, defending and two time Cup champ, He's won a couple races at his Eldora track. Hard to argue.

I would have to agree with them on that. He's the closest thing we have to DALE SR. in my opinion.

I think, after Dale Sr., Jeff Gordon is the best racer there ever was or is. Stewart has been the best over the last few years. But in terms of pure skill behind the wheel, I gotta go with JG.

.....or perhaps I'm just letting my anti-20 bias show

I would have to agree, one of the best drivers and not because I like his personality either. Lilsexy, do you remember, I think it was last yr during a race, he drove down thru the grass, got spun out or turned to avoid something. And drove right thru the grass, came back out on the track and kept going! I think he won the race too (not sure about that part). That was absolutely awesome!
