Weekly Round Up

A figure I'll start a new weekly topic. Round up all the weeks Nascar sanctioned racing action.

We start off in the Nextel Cup Series. Ryan Newman Earned his 37th career pole. Young guns rule in the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 as Kyle Busch wins, Carl Edwards 2nd, Gregg Biffle 3rd, Denny Hamlin 6th, Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson and Scott Riggs 8th, 99th, 10th respectively. Notables: Dale Earnhardt Jr. 43rd, Tony Stewart 37th, Jeff Gordon 15th, Matt Kenseth 14th, Jeff Burton 7th.

Nest race: Pennsylvania 500, Pocono Raceway

Nascar Busch Series

In the Busch race, Denny Hamlin started on the pole, Clint Bowyer started second and dominated nost of the race. Bowyer would make a green flag pit stop at lap 144, but was caught a lap down when a caution came out shortly after his stop. Carl Edwards would assume the lead and win the race. Points leader Kevin Harvick 2nd, Denny Hamlin 3rd, Paul Menard 4th and Clint Bowyer rebounds for 5th.

Next race: Martinsville Speedway, Martinsville Va.

Nascar Craftsmam Truck Series

While the Cup and Cup lite series were in Loudon, the trucks were once again putting on a great show under the lights at Memphis Motorsports Park (a track deserving of a cup race). Veteran Jack Sprague, who had won 6 of his 26 career truck wins from the pole, started there on Saturday. Sprague woud lead the most laps in the race, while fending off a hard charging Dennis Setzer multiple times to put him in position for the win. Setzer would finish 10th, while Sprague got around rookie Eric Darnell with 8 to go for his 27th Truck series win.

Next race: Indianapolis Raceway Park, Idianapolis Ind.

Whelen Modified Tour

Zach Sylvester grabbed the pole for the New England 100, but would be over taken at the drop of the green and led no laps. John Blewett would not blow this one, leading 17 laps en route to his 9th tour win. Veteran Ted Christopher, an accomplished New England racer led the most laps (30) and would finish 5th. Nascar starts Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart participated in the race. Stewart finished 9th and Edwards was caught up in a wreck and finished 39th of 42 cars.

Next race: Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford Conn.

Quote of the week: "The guy who finished 10th won the race" -Kyle Busch on Nascar raceday
