A Nascar Survey from ThatsRacin.com

I saw a survey on thatsracin.com a while ago, 2003 I think, where there are a bunch of questions on your preferences and opinions. I thought it would be fun to post it here. It covers ALOT of areas of Nascar It went as follows:

Favorite racer (ever):
Favorite race:
Favorite event:
Favorite track:
Favorite team/owner:
Favorite car make:
Funniest moment:
Most heartwarming moment:
Saddest moment:
Worst wreck youve seen:
Favorite paint scheme:

Here are my answers:

Racer: Rusty Wallace
Race: 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 (Ricky Craven is a local hero)
Event: Sharpie 500
Track: North Wilkesboro (why Bruton, why)
Team/owner: Roush, Junior Johnson, Jack Man Wayne Jacks (Truck owner for 3 years, never owned a good truck, but I met him and he's a hell of a guy, also served as Jimmy Spencer's jack man (A Jack Man named Jacks, how often do you see that?).
Car make: Ford
Funniest Moment: '96 Transouth Financial 400 (Darlington) where the flaf guy dropped the green flag, literally, he dropped it.
Most heartwarming moment: 2001 Pepsi 400 with Jr and Mikey in the infield
Saddest moment: Losing any driver is sad, but Earnhardt obviously sticks out the most. Also Tim Richmond, the way he went and what could have been
Worst wreck: I have 2, Ricky Craven at Talladega in 96 and Steve Grissom in '97 at Atlanta.
Paint scheme: Jimmy Spencer's 99 Winston No Bull car.
03 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400

Ricky Craven's wreck at Talladega (took that pick my self so I couldnt get the worst of it. He was 20 feet in the air against the catch fence at one point. The Catch fence did its job and caught Craven.

Jimmy Spencer's winston no bull car

OK, I'll play.

Here are my answers:

Favorite racer (ever):Really tough choice. I can't pick just one so I'll give a multiple selection
In no particular order Curtis Turner, David Pearson and Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Favorite race: None
Favorite event: None

Favorite track: Darlington before they changed the track

Favorite team: Holman-Moody

Favorite car make: Back in the days when they actually ran stock cars and not NASCAR-mobiles, I favoured Dodge and Plymouth

Funniest moment: Mark Martin's interview after pulling into the pits while leading on the white flag lap.

Most heartwarming moment: Dale Earnhardt weeping after leaving the car after the start of the 1996 (?) BY400. "All I wanted to to was race."

Saddest moment: Daddy Dale's funeral. I will admit to tearing up that day.

Worst wreck you've seen: Bobby Allison at Talladega in 1985. He took out 100 yards of fence at 225 MPH and the only thing that kept him out of Row 15 was a 1/2-inch length of cable.
Equally bad was the 1991 Watkins Glen wreck which took J.D. McDuffie from us. I never saw a race car stop so suddenly in my entire life!

Favorite paint scheme: Sorry folks, I go to watch the races, not the sponsor logos. In fact, I get a bit twitchy when Jayski treats paint schemes as though they were meaningful news.

Aw, come on Bob, it aint about the sponsor. Its just how good the car looks. I sould add that Dale Sr's '98 Bass Pro Shops car was pretty awsome too, although he tore it up pretty good.

Nothing wrong with these paint scheme things. It's just something which doesn't interest me. I look at the change in paint as a way to exploit the already over-exploited fans and get them to part with even more money to buy expensive toy cars.

I guess I'm just more of a curmudgeon than the average bear, eh?

Yeah, that really got to me. At first I thought everything was gonna be ok, I had seen drivers be cut out of car a number of times. But then I noticed the ambulance was moving pretty slow and I said to my self oh $h1t. Then Darrel said that, his voice cracking and I really began to worry.
