Hi Ambrose, welcome! If you post your prediction and you are the closest or pick the winner, you get a one month title upgrade like mine!

So, what kind of races will they be having at your new track? Is it dirt or paved?

Re: Iowa track

I'm not sure exactly what races they will be having there....I don't think they will be doing nextel races for a little while...but it will be a paved track. I think they might do a few truck races there and all...I can't exactly remember the name but one of the Nascar Drivers is helping out with a ton of the $ end of the building. When I can think of the guys name I will keep you updated

Yeah, Kasey, I was just reading about the track. It's a odd size, 7/8 mile, trioval (A slightly larger clone of Richmond?). Tentative opening date is 9/15/06 with an ARCA race in October.

I like the concept but... not in a large major market so I hope the local racers can support it, NASCAR probably won't.

So would I. Other than the Knoxville Nationals, Iowa is an underserved part of the country.

However, my statement about Newton, IA not being in a major media market stands. NASCAR sold out some great racing venues in the Cup Lite Series because they weren't in major markets, or were tracks which "didn't fit the NASCAR image." Can you say: Rockingham, Hickory, Rougemont, Myrtle Beach, and South Boston? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Re: Iowa track

The thing about it is though is that Newton is about 45 minutes away from Des Moines....So that is a plus there and second a lot of Iowa are huge Nascar fans so I would venture to say that I think the Newton track is really going to help Iowa. I think that it is going to survive just fine and that it might be a big track to race at sometime.

It'll probably get a cup date before Kentucky. That would stink... for Kentucky. Awesome possum for Iowa.

I don't know, Quality. Kentucky has the size, the proximity to Cincinnati and Louisville and Lexington, it has the seating and sky boxes.
And don't forget, it has a pretty good lawsuit going against ISC. MY prediction is that, before the next schedule is published, NASCAR'll cave and Kentucky'll have its date. IF it doesn't get a Cup date, ISC'll make it worth its while.
ISC does not want to go through what Bruton and his Ferko lawsuit almost put it through. Really bad ju-ju there, my friend.

I know Kentucky is a proven venue, but it doesn't fit what the Frances want. The Busch race has sold out every year. The trucks almost every year. Sparta Kentucky would almost become the largest city in Kentucky if the Cup boys came to town. The Frances want to expand elsewhere. NY and WA, and rumored for Canada. psssh.... sorry I won't veer off course here anymore... If Iowa's track sees good action, then awesome.
