| Re: Adam Petty Adam was indeed the hope and the vision that Lee, Richard and Kyle served up to the future...he embodied the spirit of the Petty family traditions and those of the true race fan. Dale Sr. was enamored by Adam, most, if not all other drivers on the circuit were pleased to have him in their midst and his ability to compete while staying "clean" was raising the bar for others to follow...his youth did not dimish his successes...Yates lost his dream for the future as well. I personally was devistated when he passed...and began to wonder where the reason came from to take him from his family and the world of race fans. Seemed far and away too cruel.
Adam, however, lives among us with the visions of the assistance offered to those less fortunate that his dad and grandfather have established. One has to wonder how functionally unselfish the Petty family must be to be able to give when so much has been taken. The Pettys remain the epitome of kindness and wonder. Adam lives in my heart forever...as does Davey Allison, Neil Bonnet and Dale Earnhard. These personalities cause the French family to pale by comparison. |
