| DEI to four cars? Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Vice President of Competition Richie Gilmore said Friday morning that the team is mulling an expansion to four Nextel Cup cars in 2007, up from two cars now. DEI already has committed to a third Cup car in 2007 for its full-time Busch Series regular driver, Paul Menard [#15 Chevy], but Gilmore said a fourth car is an option, possibly in concert with MB2 Motorsports. “We do want to make some determinations by the end of July about how many teams we will have next year,” Gilmore said. “Right now, we know we’re locked in on three Cup teams … next year. Moving that to four is a possibility for us right now. We hope to have that locked in by the end of July. We’re looking at all our options right now. Space is an issue with us right now, and that’s why we’re looking at MB2. That was one of the biggest reasons we were looking at MB2. We could help with resources and they could help with space. (speed channel) Now the questionis who would be the driver? Maybe a Ward Burton...? Nah probably not. Something to think about though.

| Re: DEI to four cars? I think Ken's good day are gone by. He's had some better than average owners and he just can't get the job done anymore. I like him a lot but when you've passed your peak it's time to let the younger, more talented drivers get into the seat. I would like to see Kerry in a quality ride. He hasn't amounted to a whole lot in the races he has ran up to now but with a good team behind him it could be different. You never know what can happen. I never hear any talk about him though. |

| Re: DEI to four cars? NASCAR was MUCH better back when Bill France Senior's iron-clad rule that thou shalt not have more than two teams per owner rule was adhered to. Yeah, I know, The Felon doesn't "own" more than two teams; he owns two, Jeffie owns one and his late father owned one. On this I revert to The Tanner Principle: IF it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, then, in all likelihood, IT'S A DUCK! Now owners seem to treat NASCAR Cup teams the way an addict treats crack; one is too many and two is never enough.
