I don't get it why fix something if it's not broke?

I didnt even see why it was neccesariy to change from the original format, although I do like the chace. Back in the day if a driver won a title by 400 points, you congratulated him for a dominating season, not complain that there wass no competiton. Its only been 3 years with this format in place. France needs to make up his mind and stick with one format.

All it is, is they want to compete with the NFL. Bullfeathers. When it comes down to it the NFL has their fans, and Nascar has their fans. When they are both on, the fans will watch the sport they are for. End of story. Jacka$$ wanting more money is all it is.

Exactly! There are also some of us who like both NASCAR and NFL. I am a die hard Colts fan. So I usually flip back and forth a lot when the Colts are playing at the same time as the race is on! I really need two televisions at that time! Or 1 tv with the capability of showing two shows at the same time!

BringBack ... I'm on your side. If you dominate the season then you should win. This playoff stuff is all about money in the France family pocket. Technically it is possible for a 15th place, or maybe even higher, to win the championship. It's all a matter of good teams, good driving, good luck and bad luck on the part of all the other drivers. I didn't like the chase when it started and I still don't. If going into the last 10 races the first place team DNF's 5 races and the 14th place driver wins then it could put the 14th place driver in the top 10 and the 1st place driver below 10th. I say if you're gonna tweak it then just put it back to the way it was for 50 years. Change is inevitable, but not always good.

Personally, I've never really liked the chase format anyway. I like it better the old way! It wasn't broke to begin with, so why fix it?

If changes are to be made, I would endorse the first discussed change in the article: Changing the number of elegible drivers in the last ten races...currently there are allowed 10. My recommendation would be to change from 10 to 43...that would fix the problem. What a minute! That may not fix the problem...as I percieve the problem to really be Brian...

It amazes me how WV Grandma can find so much stuff and still have time to share with all of us...she must be a magic grandma...and a cute one too!

First I like your idea to add another 33 drivers who would be eligible for the chase. Secondly show me a Grandma that doesn't have a special touch of magic within her. We have ours here.

I always thought RACIN was about who went the fastest. Not who goes the fastest for the last 10 races. I never quite understood the reasoning behind the "Chase". I think it takes alot away from competition.

I do not agree with the chase at all but if you look at it as if it were like most any other sport it would make sense ... to a degree. When baseball gets to the playoffs it doesn't matter that you were only 1/2 game out. you are out of the playoffs. The issue with NASCAR is that the other 33 cars are still participating in the game. If they want to have a playoff then it should happen after the 36 regularly scheduled races just a baseball starts its playoffs after 162 games. I've said it before and will again that if you are going to allow the 11th place team to participate (along with all the other teams) then you should give them the possibility to win the whole series. If I ran NASCAR I too would make some changes in '07. Either do away with the chase altogether or extend the chase to a 5 race season just between the 10 team in it and draw out of a hat which tracks they go to. Then it is all by chance. Last thing I read was that someone didn't think Talladega should be in the chase ???? Why not ?? It is a race track isn't it ???

Go back to the way it worked for the 1st 50 years !!
