| Re: NASCAR to change championship format in 2007 Hello all, first post. I agree with LSC9901 with the 5 race format with the top ten or 15 drivers. I would also award more points to positions 1 thru 3, might help with all the sandbagging going on. Race to WIN, anybody remember those days? I fear the France family in their desire to squeeze every dollar they can out of the fans are shooting themselves and the sport in the foot. One last wish, make one of those last 5 races on dirt! Be well,Mike |

| Re: NASCAR to change championship format in 2007 Thanks for the kind words and welcome TN_Gal. Nice to find a place where everybody takes their racing serious but can still have fun with it and each other. Thanks,Mike |

| Re: NASCAR to change championship format in 2007 Welcome to GoTeamsGo, Mike I think you've figured us out, I try to call our philosophy as promoting "passionate but civil" discussion but that just doesn't have the right ring to it. A dirt race? lol! that would be awesome

| Re: NASCAR to change championship format in 2007 I'm just curious. In a couple of responses people have mentioned that they'd like to see a dirt track race. My question is why ? I remember dirt tracks back when I was a bit younger than I am now but that was with the local stock car tracks and they were running the old 30's and 40's cars. I'm not sure any of these drivers could deal with the dirt tracks.

| Re: NASCAR to change championship format in 2007 11th. to 20th. I like that Quality88, would look like the Keystone Cops running around. LOL You would seperate the racers from the sandbaggers pretty quick. Wonder if the Supreme Leader would even be thinking about changes if Jeff G. and Dale Jr. had made the chase last year? My own view they should have left the points race the way it was. Have a good and safe day everyone,Mike |

| Re: NASCAR to change championship format in 2007 I leave for a few days and <presto!> an interesting thread gets started! You just knew I have an opinion on this one, right? <g> First of all, I refuse to demean racing competition by calling it "The Chase for the Championship;" it's a Brian France-version of a playoff! I don't like it, however it adds a dimension to the season and, played as it is, I don't think it actually hurts competition. In fact, it may help, in that it might make the drivers in the vicinity of 10th place actually race to win, not just cruise around for points. You all know what's behind this, don't you? Brian doesn't think it's profitable to have a playoff without the Series' two most popular drivers, Jeffie-Pooh and The Irritator. What France would love to do, but won't because it'd be too obvious, would be to have the top ten, OR as far down in standings as it takes to ensure Jeff Gordon and Dale, the Junior are in the playoff. Someone made a comment about havinga dirt race in the playoff. I'd love it and it'd beat the Hell out of a "cookie-cutter" track, BUT...never happen, Jose. There isn't a single dirt track in the country with the facilities to host a Cup race. Lest we forget, it ain't about racing competition, folks; it's all about ptofit and having lots of seats to put lots of butts in, in a major media market. Ain't this"New NASCAR just the cat's meow? <ugh>
