What kind of car do you drive?

I ask this because of obvious discontent at Toyota entering Nextel Cup next year. Would everyone be upset if say.......Volvo or BMW entered since they aren't "Jap"? I just got to wondering if everyone here drive strictly American vehicles. Please dont bring up Pearl Harbor, as that was 60 years ago, and only beats a dead horse.

Personally, I have an 04 Dodge Ram, while my wife drives an 03 Honda Accord.........and I welcome new competition......no matter where they are from. How brand loyal are you? Should I duck from the debri you guys are throwing at me?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, which is what's great about this forum. I drive an 01 Taurus. I have had an accord..... only because I needed a car and it was the right price at the right time(cheap). I don't like cars from over seas hitting the sport, and I don't give a damn if they are made in the US. They are still another countries idea, thought, wth ever you want to call it. Just my opinion.

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

If you think about it we have stuff in our american vehicles thats made in Asia and a lot of technology has come from there and is used in Nascar, so were talking about the label(toyota). I drive an 01 dodge status and a 03 subaru baja, both do excelent jobs. Not to mention the fact that jaguar has already won a nascar race.

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

I dont really like Toyota Entering Nascar, but its not somthing Im going to complain about. As for Volvo or BMW, there is already a place for them in road racing. I drive a Ford F-250 extended cab that I bought brand new in 92 and it runs just fine. This "Found On Road Dead" crap the kids are saying these days is just that. Crap. sure its had 2 battery changes and a new transmision, but one battery doesnt last forever and the Transmision thing I blame on myself

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

I've admitted to it before that I have two foreign cars. Both are Honda CRV's. I own them because of their resale value and their reputation as better built and longer lasting cars for the dollar. With that said I also am one who is against Toyota or any other FOREIGN manufacturer entering into NASCAR. I am one who is a firm believer that change is difficult. It appears that change is about to happen within NASCAR as far as what cars will be running in the cup series. It's true that most cars today are loaded with parts that are made in some far away place. For me the disturbing point is that it has always been an American automobile racing series. Yes the US is loaded with the foreign cars and yes I currently own two of them and have had many in my time. This would be like having Disney productions make a drama movie with Goofy and Mickey. It can be done but it just doesn't feel right.

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

I`am a die hard chevy guy, although I had brief ownership of a used ford bronco(wifes), then a used intriped, and a used plymouth mini van.

I have never owned a forien car.

currently I have a 2000 SS camaro and a 1999 suburban.
although the burb is in the shop and I have a VW jetta as a loaner, I don't like it at all.

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

Well guys/gals, the way I look at it now, especially with the CoT coming, is these are just going to be the same cars with different emblems on them. If it was 1984 or even 1994, I would laugh at the notion of Toyota coming to Cup. But, the times are obviously changing quickly. I resisted at first, then came to the realization that its tough to root for a brand anymore, so I just go with the drivers.........at least in Cup. All you will be rooting, for is hood decal.

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

Well, I've owned several "pieces"!! I guess that if you use the word car loosely, they qualified as cars. Really, though, the term for my previous cars would have to be junk or heaps!! I've never had a "new" or "phat" vehicle. First car was a 1973 Chevy Vega wagon that was $75.00!! Along the way there's been a 19?? Datsun something, 1972 Chevy Nova, 1982 Pontiac Sunbird, 1984 Ford Mustang, 1983 Mercury Capri. The Mustang was my Love, even though it was a piece of heap!!!! The last three cars I've owned haven't been junk or heaps, but it will make everybody grumble about them!! That's right, you guessed it: TOYOTA!!!!
1983 Toyota Celica - which I totaled
1989 Toyota Camry wagon (V6) - which was stolen and totaled
1994 Toyota Camry - which is what I now drive!!!! Never ever have a problem with it, knock on wood!!! Never had any problems, mechanically with the first two, just driver error, and of course the rat a$$ bass turds that took care of the second one!!!!!!!!!

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

I'm a GM person. I have an '89 Jimmy S-15 (the same as a blazer but a GMC). It's lowered and pretty nice. Team Yates thinks it's "phat". My other car was a '79 Camaro that I bought when I was still in high school.

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

4 wheel drive, Jeep, looks like everyone else, boring I miss the big old gas-hog I had before my jeep. 4 wheel drive, Dodge Ram Charger, Big gray and silver SUV, but it sure didn't like to pass a gas station.

Take the test. What are you. http://www.tomorrowland.us/sportscar/

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

I drive CHEVYS. I have a 96 Suburban that has 228,000 miles on it and pulls an 8,000 lbs. BBQ grill behind it. I have owned a Ford once and not again. I will never own a Chrysler product. I have 25 years in auto parts and that was enough to keep me away from Chryslers. I also had a Toyota that I really loved (83 Celica GTS) it was the biggest lemon that I have ever owned. I know that all the Manufacturers now make a pretty good car. I just like to root against the Fords and Dodges and soon to be Toyotas. I like everyone that drives a Chevy except "Little Stewey" he is a true jerk.
