I currently have a Dodge Dakota SXT and a Jeep Cherokee. I have never owned any type of rice-burner vehicle. However, I have owned other foreign vehicles (2 VW Beetles and a Triumph Spitfire). I have no heartburn with anyone who owns a Japanese car or bike but as for me, personally...colour me bigot, prejudiced, Nipponophobe or whatever but I have no plans to ever own a vehicle with the logo of a company headquartered in Japan.

AS for Toyota coming into CUP... it's inconsequential. The cars they run in Cup are merely symbols of the iron we see on the streets. They all have common templates with the main difference in "makes" being a stylized nose-piece and light and grill decals. So, they have one more that has a slightly different grill and has a Toyota logo? If someone put a green one out there and called it a John Deere it'd have the same affect.

"Oh No!," You say. The engines are different. I'll give you there are basic differences in the engines ("GM Engines" have the electronic modules in the back, "Ford Engines" have them in the front... ), but those engine aren't factory. The manufacturers have those motors sub'd out to a number of secondary engine builders using only casting molds tooled to the specs of the company.

So, I say, come on Toyota, BMW, Kia, Rolls Royce, and Tabi. Let's make a real politically correct, culturally perfect party out of NASCAR.

Re: What kind of car do you drive?

Been in the autmotive industry since '61 performing several job requirements from basic auto mechanic to service managers etc...have owned GM and Ford (even bought a new 1977 Dodge Maxi van...43 recurring warranty issues later, I go rid of it!). Currently own 1990 Old Cutlass, 1991 Olds 442, 1991 Olds Sierra, '97 Chevy 1/2 ton, 2004 Monte Carlo (Earnhardt edition), wife has a 2006 HHR and am restoring a '55 chevy and '57 chevy pickup...owned a toyota camery in 1973 ...took it to Alaska with me and got rid of it...no guts and high maint costs...don't like the Toy coming into our race world (I think most already know that) and as a retired USAF vet, I highly resent the foreign market vehicles for reasons stated in another thread.

All that being said, I admire Nevadastars for starting this thread and, while we may not agree on everything, I sure and heck would buy the beer while sitting next to him in the grandstand of Pocono or someplace if it ever happened....

Guess what I am....?

You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do.

I'm a "Vetta" too. That's what my cute little nephew calls them. Thanks Gma! That was a cool link.
