You are a major NASCAR sponsor and thought you would like to know this. #29 Kevin Harvick drives a Chevy every week during the NASCAR season. And without fail..every week during the opening cermonies while the National Anthem is being played either him AND his wife Delana or just her refuses to remove their hat. Is this petty? To a multi-million dollar company that relies on it's public image... I think not. To the men and women that have made sacrificies for the rest of us to live safely YOU BET IT IS NOT PETTY !!! You are connected to this disrepectful attitude shown on national TV every weekend. What do you think of your image now? I know there is a growing number of offended citizens...or should I say car shoppers...that would hope to see Mrs. Harvick take off her damn hat and show some respect during the national anthem. Hi Smokey. I know you're just kiddin' but this is one subject that I take with far more than a grain of salt. I am a veteran so I have respect for the flag and all it stands for. I know just because I am a vet that I am not the only person to have the same feelings. I am no one special in that area. It just really irritates me when someone cannot do such an easy and small thing like remove a hat to honor all that the flag stands for. She should be embarrassed but I assume she is not. I have to believe with the publicity that I have read that they are all aware of what she is doing. How difficult would it be to take the hat off and even issue an apology. I for one would let the issue die from that point on. I have to believe that if more people wrote to GM or Reeses and lodged complaints and inserted the possibility that they may no longer buy their product, that those letters could wake up the sponsors. On more than one occassion I have dealt with issues similar to this locally and when businesses find out that you are not going to purchase their product and inform other people in the public of how that business is reacting, they immmediately start thinking about their public image. No doubt 2-3 letters from members of these forums are not going to persuade GM to do anything but if we make a larger noise and keep at it maybe, just maybe, that ***** will take the hat off and allow me to get back to the business of bugging my friends here !!!

Yeah, I was kiddin around and I know some feel strongly about this. But, shoot, I seriously doubt if Delana has even heard that people are unhappy about this. I think that if she did realize it, she would correct it. There's so much to think about on race day for her, she probably just doesn't even give it a thought.

Go back to kicking her butt if you want. I'll stay out of this thread now.

I sent an e-mail to them as well a few minutes ago. I kept my brief and to the point. I said basically if Chevy sponsors Harvick why can't they say something to Harvick and his wife concerning her not taking off her hat? She disrepects America and Nascar! The powers that be for Chevy can they do something? GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Is she from Canada? Shouldn't matter. If I were to go to Canada and they played their anthem, I would still have enough respect to take my hat off if I were wearing one.
