His age does have a lot to do with his current abilities. He didn't do well when he signed on with Evernham and my belief is that Toyota would only want him due to his popularity.

LSC where were you at... Elliot did well with Evernham. Granted it wasn't outstanding... but he was always considered a threat.

Re: Bill Elliott to drive 3 races for Red Bull Racing

The introduction of the Toy is but the second of the off-shore manuf. vehicles recently allowed into NASCAR...support the introduction and are cool with it?...yep, that being a traitor to the history, flavor and tradition of the Stock Car circuit...and alos a supporter of the national deficit...most all of the money goes to another nation and DOES NOT support your country! It is popular to rationalize that they are supporting workers in the YSA, but this is just window dressing...

My long-time collection of all of the NASCAR diecasts (with several hundred population) wil NOT have a Toyota on the shelves...that is my little way of demonstrating my personal pride in my country....the bummer part of it is that all of the die casts are made off-shore...talk about a dichotomy! Proves that not all things are pure and simple...and to think that Dale Sr. was one of the early promotors of the die cast industry...go figger! Is is still true that Dale Sr. memorabilia remains the biggest seller?

When Bill moved from Ford to Dodge, he said his father was probably turning over in his grave. Now Toyota????

Re: Bill Elliott to drive 3 races for Red Bull Racing

The one race that stands out for me that Bill won when he was with Evernham was the Brickyard because he beat Rusty. Drove right by him like he was standing still.

Jarrett didn't do it because of the money.. don't get me wrong he gets a dang good payday... but he did it in the spirit of competition, and he was going to get alot more out of it towards the future besides money.

88 I guess you can view it any way you want. I feel that the majority of people will look at it as a venture to add more money to his pockets. It might be an added bonus that he is doing this in the spirit of competition but I think that is secondary to the payday. All these guys are walking into a dark alley. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Toyota has ZERO history in Cup racing. These teams will be nothing more than research and development.

I don't hate any of them for going to Toyota, but I do hate the fact that Toyota is invading the great American racing scene. I look at it as a series that should be dedicated to the American cars. I know that the stock car is no longer a stock car and is nothing at all like what we drive on the highways but that is yet another discussion.

Again I'm not upset, although it may appear that way but I'm just plain old unhappy about this. At this point none of the teams I care for are going to Toyota so that allows me to be a little more ruffled in the feathers.

Smoke ... send me two pills please .............

Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't believe Yotas will be doing anything for atleast three years, but, then again... you never know. I value your opinion. Although at times some of my responses may not suggest that.

88 I try real hard not to take anything personally here on these forums. As I have said before we all have opinions and they are just that .... opinions. I'm sure I've made statements that others do not agree with but we are all in this together and who knows, maybe some information comes out that changes the way we look at some particular subject. I've had my point of view changed before and I'm sure it'll happen again. The exchange of ideas and opinions is good. We can all benefit from them. Now if we could just get DW to shut up and Mrs. Harvick to take her hat off the world would be OK !!!
