| Re: "Wild Thing" more like "Jaws" than "Intimidator" I am sure there are. I am a Kyle Busch fan, but hating other drivers just makes me miserable. While I am not so impressed by "junior" as others seem to be I don't hate him. When I have to take racing to the point of hating other drivers I need to find something else to watch. Maybe a nice cooking show or something.

It's just too strong an emotion to waste on people who probably don't come close to deserving it.

| Re: "Wild Thing" more like "Jaws" than "Intimidator" It is also to strong of an emotion to use on people you don't even know. You can be driver "X"s fan all you want, but do you really, really love him ???? Boy I hope not. Like and dislike work well towards athletes. |

I realize that it's ("hate" and "love") used metaphorically here, for the most part (I sure hope so, anyway. If it's being used in its actual context, be verwy, verwy afraid!). It probably brothers me more than anyone else here when people throw those two terms around like soil linen. One of these days I'll take the time to figure out why. |

| Re: "Wild Thing" more like "Jaws" than "Intimidator" A long time ago (metaphorically speaking) I was told "Words mean something. Use the words you mean and people won't misunderstand you." Conversely, if you use words because you're too lazy to use the proper word or are a slave to slang, I hope you have a good life being misunderstood most of the time, though I can't imagine how you could. Same goes for not taking the time to use a spell checker. (Though I try to not allow either to slip thru, I've done both - it's those who regularly do either or both that I'm referencing.) I guess it comes down to pride in one's self. Using words without knowing what they mean and/or not caring whether you've spelled your words correctly, to me, means you have little self-pride. My experience in the business world also tells me people who do this regularly tend to be less desirable workers, and thus are "overpaid" compared to their worth to the business. Sorry for the ramble, but, along with stupidity, these are hot buttons of mine. I admire excellence in anything; so much so I've experienced grief in my life because I've chosen not to do things I knew I wouldn't or couldn't do well. But I've also experienced the "high" of being excellent in some things. I think Shrub is there also. It doesn't mean he won't make a mistake. But it does mean he can take pride in achieving excellence in something he obviously enjoys doing. Unfortunately, some people are jealous of other's excellence and success, probably because they themselves have experienced little of it in their life. So when "their" driver(s) do not perform well or are victims of chance, they transfer their frustration from were it should rest to those who performed well and/or benefited from chance. The misplaced frustration suffers from the misnomer of "hate." Then there are others who, like me, admire (and yet harbor a small bit of envy of) another's other's talent's and successes. We choose to acknowledge both the good and the not so good without dwelling on the latter. Thus it becomes easy for us to be a fan of many without being devoted fan on one. I freely admit elation when a driver I'm rooting for (at the time) does well and I also admit disappointment when said driver does not do well. And that is my contribution to the "love" & "hate" discussion. Shrub has provide people like me more elation than frustration this year. And I he's also frustrated people whose driver didn't do so well. But then, that's what racing is all about: winning and not winning! As MacLeod's tutor, Ramírez, says in "The Highlander": "in the end, there can be only one."

| Re: "Wild Thing" more like "Jaws" than "Intimidator" "Kyle Busch has a chance -- just a chance, but a chance -- to be the best there's ever been" Easy now. Let's let him finish his career before we do all that kind of talking. People are kinda caught up in the moment right now about Busch. We're talking about Petty, Earnhardt, Gordon, Yarborough, Allison, Waltrip, etc. Should I continue?

| putting Busch in with names like petty and Earnhardt is an insult to those great legends. Busch has 1 good year and everyone is going crazy and puttung his name with legends.I am here to say he is no legend. At least not yet. |

You'll probably remember Greg Biffle, Ryan Newman and Kasey Kahne from recent years, Dave Marcis from many years ago, and even what we saw with the Hendrick stable the first half of this very season. These guys started to take the sport by storm, having phenomenal seasons in which they were constant threats, but then within a year or so were fading from the radar and struggling to get back to where they were once headed. Biffle, Newman, Kahne and the Hendrick boys are starting to make it back, but Marcis, over 30+ years never did, and tides can change more quickly than ever in today's NASCAR. |

| Re: "Wild Thing" more like "Jaws" than "Intimidator" Thank you! I've been saying that all year. And before we start comparing him to "Jaws" or the "Intimidator", maybe we should see if he equals or surpasses Jeff Gordon. Seems to me, that's the first milepost Shrub needs to get to. Gordon is the last driver who came into the Cup series with great expectations, who lived up to those expectations, in spite of what the naysayers, name callers, and boo birds said and did. Let's see if Shrub can do the same thing over the next few years. |
