Guaranteed positions for Pocono

After the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, #66 Scott Riggs has moved back into the top 35 in owner points and will have a guaranteed starting position for the Pocono race. The team that the #66 bumped out is #00 Michael McDowell.

Good! Now if we could just get Mikey down there things would be all copacetic in Bob's World.

You're new here, Martin. You will find that there are multiple members who find the Brothers Waltrip to be, personality-wise, the racing community's equivalent of Paris Hylton and Brittany Spears.

I'm one of those but I was thinking more along the lines of the brothers on the Bob Newhart show, Larry (Mac), Darryl & Darryl

A couple more finishes like today's for Mikey and you might get your wish.

My fiancée dislikes Mikey for the 2007 Daytona 500 cheating incident. She's also a true Juan Pablo Montoya hater, we were in the stands at Watkins Glen when he had his shoving match in Turn 1 with Kevin Harvick. JPM's arrogance is another one of the big turn-offs for her.

Anyone who sees through the Mikey veneer has to be a good person.

I miss the old ESPN so much!... On Fox, Larry, his brother Darrell and his other brother Darrell (Jeff) annoy me to no end because they think they are the show and there just happens to be a car race on at the same time. TNT's coverage this year was better than last year's, but let's face it, last year's coverage on TNT was about as low as you could set the bar.

With the new ESPN, Jerry Punch sounds too tired to get excited about what's going on in the race, Rusty was a much better driver than he is a commentator and Dale Jarrett makes way too many "uh" pauses between words and gets a little annoying after a while.

Speed's Craftsman Truck Series coverage (minus Mikey of course) is pretty much the most enjoyable NASCAR TV coverage there is these days.

You have no idea how many friends you just made. (A few who disagree but... win some, lose some) I'd gladly take the days of Mike Joy, Larry Nuber and Ned or Buddy in the booth, Dave Despain doing stats, and Dr. Jerry and Glen Jarrett in the pits.

Re: Guaranteed positions for Pocono

Earlier this week, Mikey was bragging about the "new" car they built, with some kind of new tubing for the chasis, which would make the car lighter and faster. Can't wait to hear that goofballs comments about it tomorrow night on Speed.

Mikey is known for his ability to talk a lot and say absolutely nothing.

Same here Bob. And a big reason I'm so disapointed in ESPN is somehow they managed to screw up their personnel when they have everyone they need right under there nose. They making an incredible waste of Allen Bestwick's ability to call a race by leaving him in the studio, and even if they couldn't use Allen for some reason, Bob Jenkins did a good job and he's still employed at ESPN, and I would even take Marty Reed over the good Doc. He belongs in the pits.

Back to the top, or chosen 35 as Bob puts it... well I don't know what to say that hasen't been said here before. It's just wrong. I wish I could dare Brian France or Mike Helton to honestly tell me that it makes sense while keeping a straight face.

I don't think he is, Wilks. I know he did the Edmunton race but I think he's free-lancing now. I could be wrong, though.

10/4 on the good Doctor belonging in the pits. He's just not a booth kinda guy.

I could have sworn he was. Not just because of the Edmonton race, but last I knew he was also doing the Indy Lites, which would be a serious waste of brodcast talent. I guess that may have changed.

I think I would make an awesome Nascar Comentator!

All I need to do is learn everything, and not look so ugly. I already know broadcasting (as its my career) and love the sport. What more could you ask for!

Seriously though. TNT Coverage sucked, Fox was meh. ESPN wasnt bad...but for some reason a lot of people kept experiencing difficulties on the networks side durring the race. There was one part where it was out for 5-7 mins. Hopefully this isn't a problem for the remainder of their coverage.

Yeah, I had the network do something unheard of .. go screwy during a commercial!! just froze and nothing but silence for about 90 seconds, then it takes off from where it left off.
