| Re: Brickyard So, you're going up to my hometown? Hope you enjoy the race. If you're sitting in the outside bleachers of T4 you should have a view of the mega-screen. Historically, T4 is where a lot of action happens. If you're staying in Columbus, you are about 45-50 miles south of I-465, the interstate around Indy. Plan your travel time accordingly. The Indy cops have an excellent handle on traffic control and all routes will be clearly marked, You'll probably be amazed at the ease you enter and exit the track. But, when the cops motion you to go, don't hesitate. Trust them, they'll get you in and out if you follow directions. If you want a tip on how to possibly get around some of the traffic, send me a note. I, personally don't go in off 16th St or Georgetown Rd. I like to come in from the north on Addison St (I think it's called Hulman Ave now? It's been awhile since I've been back in Indy) Hint: DO NOT MISS THE SPEEDWAY MUSEUM!!!!! It is far and away the best racing museum in the world IMNSVHO, of course. If you don't go in it you really can't grasp on why Indy is so important. Enjoy yourself and don't miss eating a breaded tenderloin sandwich at any of the restaurants in the area.

| Re: Brickyard i second the Speedway Museum recommendation. also a great way to kill a few hours while you wait out a rain delay, which are less common in late July than May. for somebody sitting in turn 4, the North 40 is without a doubt the best place to park. get off I-65 on N Kessler Blvd and head south to 30th. take a right on 30th and there is the parking lot. |

| Re: Brickyard I will be a good girl me bad?! LOL! I grew up in Indiana but never been to the Brickyard so any info would be helpful on directions etc. I will be going early to avoid sitting in traffic getting their that day. Bob how bad is traffic leaving the Brickyard? Probably as bad as Michigan and Talladega I presume! LOL! I will be sitting in the Northwest Vista area. Row 20 if memory serves! LOL! Going by myself so kinda bummer wish I had someone to go with to an unfamiliar track. |

| Re: Brickyard This will be my 3d Brickyard and my advise to out of towners is to ride with a local. My last BY we parked in the back yard of a residence that backed up against the 3d turn. We walked into the Speedway across a Tee box for one of the golf holes and were withing a few hundred feed of the stands. Getting out presented a bit more of a challenge, but then the post race BBQ and suds kept everyone occupied until the crowds thinned out. The best advice for a prompt exit [unless you have a helo] is don't try. Have some cold drinks [probably soft ones after a long day at the race] back at the car and a place with shade or AC to wait it out. The yellow shirts and police may be good but there is only so much you can do with a crowd this size. Be prepared to go the direction the officials direct you, not where you want to go. Again some local knowledge can be invaluable. PS Columbus is not exactly a party town. |
