This event didnt sell out... not many have this year. Sure Gas prices have an impact.... but the sport is wrecked also. |

| Re: Allstate 400 @ The Brickyard - "Live Chat" You know Mike Helton came on during the race to "explain" the situation. I can appreciate that. Pemberton was interviewed at a press conference after the race to "explain" the situation. I can appreciate that. I think we're missing one thing. An apology. In the next week I would hope to see anyone who works for NASCAR to be on every TV show, radio show, etc....saying we are sorry for putting on such a sorry race. You can blame goodyear, the racetrack or whoever...but when it comes down to it NASCAR is the one that's responsible for everything that takes place on the track. This quote from Ryan Newman sums it up pretty well. Quote:

| Re: Allstate 400 @ The Brickyard - "Live Chat" I think the "diamond-grinding" of the track surface is the culprit. Tony George must consider what he is going to do to make next year's race.... a race. The "diamond-grinding" evidently works great for the IRL cars. But, not for the NASCAR Cup cars. NASCAR on the other hand must convince Tony George to make the track more acceptable to the Cup cars. If not, they are going to have another fiasco like yesterday. Also, NASCAR may consider changes to the Goodyear tire. They can ask Goodyear to can bring some "hard boil" tires next year. That will force drivers to brake more and result in overall slower speeds. All the parties involved have 12 months to figure out a solution. Fans will remember this situation when ticket renewal letters arrive.

But, in this case you are 100%. It happened under NA__AR's watch and I believe a sincere "NASCAR is sincerely sorry about the quality of the 2008Brickyard 400. Rest assured that we will do everything possible to ensure such an event will never happen again." Good observation, bob. I never thought about a simple apology.
