| Kerry Earnhardt to Drive in The NW Race for DEI Kerry Earnhardt is getting a chance to run for the family business. The son of seven-time NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt and half-brother of Dale Earnhardt Jr. will drive the Dale Earnhardt Inc. No. 8 Chevy in the July 4 Nationwide race at Daytona International Speedway. "I've won several races with DEI in an ARCA car, but I'm really looking forward to driving a fast car at Daytona under the DEI umbrella," said Earnhardt, who is joined DEI as a team liaison in January 2007. "I appreciate DEI giving me the opportunity to get back in a car; especially one that I know will be fast and competitive. I love running the speedways [Daytona and Talladega] and can't wait for the weekend to get here." ESPN - Kerry Earnhardt to drive for DEI's No. 8 car in Nationwide race - Racing |

| Re: Kerry Earnhardt to Drive in The NW Race for DEI I believe when they get ready for a new Earnhardt in cup, it'll be Kerry's son. |

| Re: Kerry Earnhardt to Drive in The NW Race for DEI Sorry folks, but based on what I've seen, he can't drive. Yes. I said it. An Earnhardt can't drive. I wanted to like him, but every time I saw him on the track, he wrecked. I hope he does well, but my expectations are low. I hope he proves me wrong. By the way, does he look like his father or what?

| Re: Kerry Earnhardt to Drive in The NW Race for DEI I think Penelope's onto something here. I think this might be more out of the desperation by DEI to have a famous name in the race no matter how it's done! This looks like a marketing strategy or something because if he was really worthy, where has he been all this time? I haven't heard if Dale Junior is driving in the Nationwide race, but if he does, it would be a very interesting angle for the media to cover this story of the half-brothers with the very famous family name racing against each other...

Yikes! Can you imagine? Even I get annoyed when any driver gets the bulk of the media attention, even Jr. Put the Earnhardt brothers on the same track, and that's all we'll hear about. Actually, I bet that even if Jr. doesn't race, Kerry will get a ton of coverage. |

| Re: Kerry Earnhardt to Drive in The NW Race for DEI Dale Jr. Will be in the No. 5 car and Kerry Earnhardt will be in the No.8 car. I'm sure the announcers will capitalize on this entry just as they has the Wallace and Busch brothers in the past. |

| Re: Kerry Earnhardt to Drive in The NW Race for DEI If they do alot of talking about them during the race, it'll be different from what it usually is. They usually don't talk about Kerry that much. |

| Re: Kerry Earnhardt to Drive in The NW Race for DEI Well, Kerry did pretty good last night. He came in 17th, stayed out of trouble, and managed to keep all the fenders on the car. Not bad for his first time back in competition since the same race last year. And there wasn't much said about him all night. One thing they did say that caught my attention, was he's thinking about coming back full time. Don't know if that's in the Bush series or the Cup. Guess we'll see. |
