| Hendrick reality show!! It seems to me that over in Charlotte NC. There is "Hendricks Island" which is now very similar to the tv show survivor. A few years ago tribe members Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon had issues with member Brian Vickers who was hand picked by his close friend... the late Ricky Hendricks. To drive the famed #25 car for Hendrick motorsports. Soon, they wouldn't allow him to attend tribal counsel and he was voted off the island and replaced by Jeff and Jimmy's buddy Casey Mears. Last year during a tribal counsel the crown jewel became available and Mr. Hendrick with the back up votes of JJ, JG & CM voted off the island a much younger and talented Kyle Busch to attain this crown Jewel. This year it seems to me that with the backing of the crown jewel mr. hendricks now has enough votes to vote Casey Mears off the island. My question is....Who's the next to get voted off "Hendricks Island???" It's clear Mr. Hendricks is running a survivor series OR does he just like "dancing with the stars??" Either way... he ends up looking like "the biggest looser!!" |

| Re: Hendrick reality show!! Loco, you may be right. However, if anybody does the voting, it's Rick Hendrick. He runs his race teams like his other business, Hendrick Automotive Group. Hendrick is the second-largest privately owned dealership group in the US. Hendrick Automotive is made up of 76 auto dealerships across the country with about $4 billion in annual sales. People are moved whenever their performance turns downhill. Others climb the ladder within the organization as they perform well. Rick Hendrick is known for his caring for people. I know Bob Tanner may have other views. However, If you look at the dealership names around the country you may be surprised as to what the dealership name is. Here's a sample:

Who says that Rick has helped or is still helping any of the aboved mentioned drivers just because they own car dealerships? Rusty Wallace and Dale Earnhardt have or had them as well. John Elway has several of them does Rick help him too? As for your statement that people are moved when thier performance turns downhill. Then whats Jeff Gordon still doing there? |

To be blunt, I said Rick Hendrick is continuing to help in a monetary way. John Elway has several of them does Rick help him too? Be realistic, I don't believe John Elway is part of the Hendrick Automotive Group. You should know better than that. Then what's Jeff Gordon still doing there? Mainly because he is HMS's cornerstone driver. He's also 6th in the current NASCAR Cup standings with 2 poles, 7 top 5s, and 8 top 10s. Not back for an "over the hill driver". |

Rick might have taken a share of the risk on the above driver's dealership floor plan, but I will be willing to bet that, until this day, the above mentioned dealerships are part of the Hendrick Empire and Hendrick gets a cut from every deal and probably double on every extended warranty and credit life insurance written. I also question that Terry and DW were "Voted of the Island." If I remember correctly, DW left to start his own team (#17 Western Auto Parts Chev) and Terry just retired. FYI: Though I personally believe that Rick Hendrick is basically pond scum, if you search this forum for a thread entitled "In Defense of Rick Hendrick," you'll find that I wrote an entire thesis on the good side of the guy, and he does, indeed, have a good side. But that side falls short of outweighing the ill feeling I have for him.

I'm also sorry that you have bad feelings about Rick Hendrick. I understand your concerns about him. I just see the character of Rick Hendrick from a little different angle. |

My biggest complaint is that he did the crime but wasn't man enough to do the time. Instead he mysteriously comes up with some rare, potentially fatal, blood disease which equally mysteriously goes in remission within hours of his jail sentence being commuted in order that he could "die at home." His refusal to take man up and do the year he was sentenced to trivialized all the genuinely ill people out there who are actually suffering every day from the cancer Hendrick claimed to have had. Then he buys a presidential Pardon buy contributing to that double wide-looking presidential Library in Little Rock! I, personally, don't think the guy should be allowed within 500 yards of a NASCAR track! But, that's just me. I know that there are many who idolize the guy. I have no problem with that. But I will take the opportunity to bad-mouth him every chance I get. Please don't take it personal. |

| Re: Hendrick reality show!! After doing a little research to be sure, it seems my mother has the same disorder. In fact, over 10 years ago when it was diagnosed, she was told it was terminal and "get your house in order." Less than a month later she was in total remission and remains so until this day. I'm not crazy about any kind of crime, blue collar, white collar, whatever, but it makes me far less sure that he pulled a fast one to get out. Just food for thought. And BTW, I'm sure you know "remission" and "cured" are totally different animals. Mr. Hendrick may not be out of the woods.

The fact that his "remission" can at almost the exact time as his prison commutation is just too damn coincidental for me. The time line goes as follows: In late 1995 investigation as to allegations of bribery and mail fraud by Rich Hendrick, DBA Hendrick Automotive Group, begin. In 1996 Hendrick is diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. 1997 Hendrick pleas guilty to all charges. Federal prosecutors want to sentence him to a total of 210 years (obviously the crimes he committed weren't small ones) 1997 Hendrick us sentenced to a three year prison term Within hours Hendrick's doctors claim he might not have 210 hours to live. Judge commutes sentence to one year house arrest and three years probation and tells Hendrick he feels he should be allowed to die at home. Within six months Hendrick's "fatal" leukemia goes into remission. Rick starts his Leukemia Foundation (which, BTW, is a VERY good thing - a very appropriate penance) and at the one year mark, goes back to living life as usual, EXCEPT he still has three years on paper and has to see his PO and all the crap associated with that. December, 2000, After Hendrick makes a big contribution (the exact amount has never been made public though several attempt to obtain the amount have been denied) to Bill Clinton's "presidential" Library, the "president" gives Hendrick a Presidential Pardon. If you believe everything I note above is on the up and up, I applaud you. I don't believe in coincidence. Believe me, I am, in absolutely no way, comparing the sad misfortune befalling your dear mother to what Hendrick alledges. |
