| Re: Casey Mears in 2009 ??? I don't think he will go indy car if he doesn't have too... I THINK he should go indy car! As I mentioned on another post. It would be be great to see a mears/peneske team run at indy again. Might give the announcers something to talk about other then Danica and Marco. Imagine having an Andretti/Rahal/mears shootout at indy with a few to go! |

Yeah I don't think many really care...I know I don't care where he ends up. It just chaps my a** because Rick H. is dropping him and how he dropped him. To be honest, none of the Hedrick cars too me are actually setting the world on fire this year, yeah 3 are in the top 12 but clearly they are struggling. Why is casey's situation different? Also, I'm sure Casey makes a small fraction of what the other 3 make. What do they expect?? I don't know... there is something going on other then lack of production from the 5 car! |

| Re: Casey Mears in 2009 ??? I seem to remember that last year, when all the speculation started about who would be leaving HMS to make room for Junior, no one thought Casey would leave even though he had the worst record of all the then HMS drivers. Also, if I remember correctly, I even made a remark wondering what information Casey had on RIck that seemed to make him invisible when talk of walking papers came up. Now it's become obvious it was Shrub's lack of suave that pushed him out ahead of Casey... Thus, if Ryan leaves Penske, Casey is a good prospect to take that seat. With Biff & Truex more or less off the table, and no other Chase capable driver options, Casey pops up around the top of the list. RCR won't create a 4th team for a veteran 20th place driver, but will for a Kesolaski or Logano caliber rookie. And Penske already has Stremme under contract, so the question comes down to which will produce the best results? (If I were Penske it'd be Stremme, but ya never know what other "influences" are around...)

I would hope he'd end up at RCR in the #33. General Mills likes him as a driver for their sponsorship, and it would be interesting to see how he runs with 1. stability, i.e. not jumping from number/team to number/team every year, and 2. not being treated as the redheaded stepchild. Watch him go to RCR and flourish, much like Kyle Busch and even Brian Vickers.

| Re: Casey Mears in 2009 ??? Not obvious! "I think" expresses an opinion and is non-committal in nature because we have no idea whether you're for or against such a solution. If instead you'd said "I wish" or "I hope" it would have indicated caring. Words mean something. If we should always strive to use the proper words to convey our thoughts. (how's that for highbrowed literary critiquing? I wasn't sure I still had it in me! BTW: I'm happy you care |
