Heard in the Garage: Silly Season 2008

WOW! Is there no end to the controversy? There's big names and not so big names being whispered around the garage. Almost any story you can imagine is bouncing around, not the least of which is .. get this .. Smoke and Rocketman are teammates .. and Smoke is the owner!!! Then there's Mears in the 4th RCR car, Jack Daniels looking for another car team, and Scott Speed in a Cup car before the year is out!

Bob Margolis has a pretty complete list of the rumors and whispers in his latest column: Whispers ni the Cup Garage. The only ones he doesn't have that I know of are the ones I started myself

Re: Heard in the Garage: Silly Season 2008

Jay Adamczyk (Jayski.com) turned NASCAR rumors into a nice little piece of change. Maybe Margolis has visions of moving to Charlotte, too?

Re: Heard in the Garage: Silly Season 2008

I guess the "Silly Season for 2008" is officially underway. Announcements this morning were:
  • Greg Biffle announced today that he has signed a three-year extension of his contract with Roush Fenway Racing to drive the No. 16 with 3M sponsorship.
  • Clint Bowyer said Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway that he has signed with Richard Childress Racing for three more years to run the No. 07 Chevy.
  • Rick Hendrick made it official - Casey Mears is out of the No. 5 at the end of the year.
