| Martin Truex Jr. racing under a storm cloud at DEI The fact is Martin Truex Jr. hasn't had a clean, controversy-free season at DEI. Not yet at least. "No, I really haven't to be honest with you," Truex said this week. "I think part of that is DEI being Dale Earnhardt, Incorporated. It's always been under a tough microscope. I think whether it was before Dale Jr. or after Dale Jr. it's always been that way." It's not all his fault, but he's right in the midst of the storm cloud. And when Truex talks you can hear the deep frustration in his voice. He made the Chase for the Championship last year, but now he's sitting 17th. His performance - the team's performance - will have to change fast if he's going to have any shot at getting into the Chase. While there have been some good runs, he's not been great. Adding to the performance misery is the off-track nonsense. Face it, DEI gets slammed just for being DEI. DEI head Teresa Earnhardt often unfairly becomes fodder for talk radio chatter by callers and hosts. "I think a lot of the people are harsh in their opinions of DEI and what they are, you know, the job they're able to do," Truex said. "I think the perception of DEI is not as good as what it really is. So that's been tough at times. Seems like I've always had to stick up for them when there is really nothing to stick up for. So it's been a weird situation. It's always been something a little different. But there's always been somebody trying to, you know, make their job a little tougher than it should be I think." -- NY Daily News Martin Truex Jr. racing under a storm cloud at DEI |

Well I got news for whoever wrote that article. Teresa Earnhardt is running that team into the ground and it is taking on more water than he Titanic. That's how fast it's sinking. The way she's running this team is not how Senior would've wanted it run. Pretty soon we'll see DEI cars out of the top 35 and struggling to make races every week. NASCAR ought to make her take the "D" out of DEI and replace it with a "T". That team doesn't deserve to be called Dale Earnhardt Inc. with the way she's running it. Besides she's so selfish she is better off renaming it "TEI" anyway. Dale was a champion and that's what his name stands for......that team is anything but champions. She is and was the epitome of a gold digger and she's running this team like an investment....without any passion or any real involvement.....lurking back in the shadows like she doesn't even care about the team or winning for that matter. It's a shame what she's doing to that team. Especially shutting out her own stepson. All he wanted was a bigger stake and more say and involvement in the family team his father started and she couldn't even do that. She's pathetic. I wish she would sell that team.....she has no business representing the Earnhardt name or running a NASCAR team for that matter.

| Re: Martin Truex Jr. racing under a storm cloud at DEI We had this talk the other day. She was always running the team. Even when Dale was here, she took care of all the daily stuff. Sr said it himself. I agree with Truex, to a point. I think the thing missing from DEI isn't equipment, or effort. It's leadership and experience on the racing side. And the only way they are going to develop that is to keep a driver like Martin there. Roush had Mark martin RCR had Sr Gibbs had Labonte and Dale Jarrett All the great teams over the years had folks to build from, and a voice form that driver helped to guide the team. DEI hasn't had that since Dales passing, and it Truex goes, they will never get it. I think it is vital that they keep him there, and that the powers that be take him and make him theirs. Not only in marketing, but make him the person that helps mold the newer driivers, and also to listen to him from the racing side. This teams needs an identity, someone to rally around. And Theresa isn't that person. Nor should she be.

| Re: Martin Truex Jr. racing under a storm cloud at DEI I don't think Teresa Earnhardt is really running the show at DEI and making the strategic decisions for the teams. I believe Max Siegel is doing that. Max is the person that made all the recent crew changes and restructured the development group. He is the "one" that sets the directions and provides the leadership for DEI. When I'm at the race track, I see Max and his few close associates in the garage area visiting the crew chiefs and watching the preparation of the cars. I never see Teresa in the garage area. As a side note, how sad is it that she wanted Seigel to run this team rather than giving Junior part ownership and let him try his hand at running the family team his father founded? That is what Junior was trying to do last year in those negotiations and IMO what Senior wanted anyway. Senior wanted his son to eventually lead that team. NOT his gold-digging wife. |

| Re: Martin Truex Jr. racing under a storm cloud at DEI If Sr wanted Jr to run DEI, why didn't he leave him in charge of it? He didn't even let Jr do it when he was there to oversee what happened. I don't see why everybody is still saying she has no business running it. She helped him build it and she ran it while he raced for RCR. I would like to see Truex stay there. Not everything can be blamed on equipment though. Sometimes maybe the equipment isn't so good, but also sometimes the driver ain't so good. I also don't think it helps when everybody keeps saying, well when Sr was alive or when Jr was still there. Neither of that is happening now and people need to let it go. Thats got to make the teams that are there feel like people have no confidence in them and think they can't do anything cause Sr and Jr isn't there.

| Re: Martin Truex Jr. racing under a storm cloud at DEI I'm not real sure I agree with you on this one Vince. First off she has all the business and right in the world to run the business. She and her husband started the business and trust me she is no dummy. Not that a college degree makes one intelligent but she does have one and I'm sure at this point in her life she has at least attempted to surround herself with who she feels are the best people available. I'll just guess that your opinion is that she doesn't care. Her values may be different than yours, mine and many others but I do believe that she sees this as a business that provides for her and her family along with are large group of employees. For all of that I'm betting she cares. If she didn't she would have sold out long ago. |

| Re: Martin Truex Jr. racing under a storm cloud at DEI Sr. is dead and gone .......get over it! the team belongs to treasa has it always did. she and Sr. biult that team together and it's hers to run as she sees fit. theres fours teams all in the top 35, more than I can say for a bunch of other teams. also if someone wanted to come wpork for you , but you had to give them your bussiness would do it, if you say yes I don't believe you.
