NASCAR busts Jeremy Mayfield's Dodge in post-race inspection

CONCORD, N.C. - The No. 19 Dodge of Nextel Cup Series driver Jeremy Mayfield failed post-race inspection following Sunday night's Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, series director John Darby confirmed Tuesday.
The car's roof height failed to meet the minimum 51-inch requirement, Darby said.
Lord I feel so bad for him. After all the bad luck looked like It was going to get better.
I thought Paul Andrews was a lot smarter than that. Shows how much I know, I guess. <sigh>

Re: NASCAR Busts Jeremy

Can anybody tell me why ALL these "new" incidents are now being penalized with points? My answer is that they are trying to cover up the fact that Hendricks is in their back pocket. The 48 did NOT get points taken for their blatant act of cheating. Then they turn around and fine D.J. for "working in the gray area", and they heard the uproar from the fans, so now it seems they are going dock points from everybody for everything (maybe we won't notice that they gave the 48 an extra 25 points head start to the "chase".) Fining the 5 is a given - he is a loser first, but he is Hendrick's "fall out boy". There's not one time that I can think of where the 24 or the 48 have had points taken from them when they obviously should have had points penalized. So far, it seems as the only consistency NASCAR has in handing out points penalties is that they never fine their "golden boys"!!!!

I hadn't realized they didn't take any points from the #48. There's a dead rat under the carpet somewhere. Sure stinks.

Would you like a pill, Team Yates? I think you might need one. Hey, do you remember when the 48 won, can't remember if this was last year or the year before. His car failed post race inspection, too low. Did they take points away then? I don't remember.

Re: NASCAR Busts Jeremy

As usual NASCAR does not dispense justice equally. I agree with taking points but I don't think 25 points are enough. The thousands of dollars worth of fines are just a joke. It is a lot of money to most of us but you can bet that the sponsors and owners are just laughing when they pay 25K to knock out another driver. If they took 100 points you can bet that the sponsors wouldn't have Kyle Busch on the payroll very long if he wanted to keep tossing safety devices at other drivers ..... especially when they are not at fault.

Yes, Smoke, please may I have a pill?!?! If I remember correctly, the answer is NO, they didn't take points from him, I'll try and find it a little later.

It was last year and they took 25 points from him. They say Knaus is the smartest crew chief in the garage? If he's so smart, why does he keep getting caught?

Personally I think Hendrick (a CONVICTED felon) and Knaus make a matched set.

We're listening, Quality88!! I believe it was you who said something about that in the Cheatin Chad thread. And now it's happening more and more, those "timely" cautions that you talked about in another thread!!
