Toyota Recall

I just read on foxnews.com (sorry I'm a 'puter moron & can't post the link) that Toyota is recalling over ONE MILLION cars to "replace faulty intermediate shafts and sliding yokes".

Re: Toyota Recall

I worked for a Ford/Toyota dealership for 18 years. The thing about Toyota, is if the find a problem, they will handle it immediately. Ford on the other hand, waits until there are hundreds of lawsuits to do anything about it. Honda is exactly like Toyota. My wife has an 03 Accord we bought new that was recalled to the dealership to check 2nd gear in the 5 speed automatic. They had problems with about 1 in 100 units, but recalled everyone to check it out and install an additive. I could go on and on about Ford "issues" that we just put band-aids on when they knew there was a problem.

Kudos to Toyota for getting it taken care of instead of waiting for a dozen people to get killed because of a poor design, such as the Ford Pinto and especially the 70/80's Chevy truck gas tanks come to mind.

I worked at a Toyota dealership for 12 years, I agree with all that you said!!!! Take care of it before it gets to be a "problem". They are a good company. They found a "problem" with a part in the steering of the Runner, they have replaced over 1,000,000, not just on the new Runners, they replaced the one in my husband's which is a 1994. He said the part getting replaced is $300.00 each times over 1,000,000 units replaced, and they only ever found a problem with 3 units. So, at least, you know they do take care of the consumer, they are a quality driven company.
