Re: Update on Tony

it sounds like Tony will have to share his ride for a while.
That stinks for him.
I didnt know that if he started the race but changed later, that he would still get all the pts.

I wonder how much time this is going to require to heal. Poor Smoke.

I think it might be a tough couple of weeks for Smoke. That is too bad. He's fellow Hoosier and I don't mind seeing him do well.

This type of thing scares me. I look for an outcry again about it being "unfair" to a driver to be required to start a race in order to get points. I wouldn't be surprised if an out from the type of fans who think we should allow substitute drivers to start a race and give the points to the driver they start for, ala the stuff they were cryingt for 3 years ago when Sterl;ing broke his neck and ahd to sit out the last...? ten races.

I can't think of a single reason why this would be a good deal for racing and can think of at least a dozen reason why it would be horrible. Ergo, I look for NASCAR to try it, in some form.

What concerns NASCAR is this...driver x is excellent on every track except for, lets say, road courses. The morning of the race driver x gets a bad case of the sniffles, a migraine, whatever. Owner x proceeds to find driver z, a road course ringer, to fill in that day.

Even though TS has a legitimate injury, I don't think they want to deal with any grey areas here. Although, they don't seem to have many rules written into stone concerning much else.

Re: Update on Tony

thats why they have driver points and car owner points.

best case would to have someone Q the car and leave him start in the back, when they come to the green have tony pit and switch, yes you'll go lapps down, but it will give you 390 lapps to make it up plus early in the race you'll get the free pass, and dover seems to start off rough than go to the long green runs.
restarts at dover the inside lane is prefered, and the 20 car will be able to get lapps back if he is starting from the front row.

so the big question is who will replace tony ????, kenny wallace if there is no car make concearns, not sure what kenny drivesin the busch series.

Ricky Rudd is replacing Smoke and he'll probably get in the car at the first caution, hopefully there'll be one b-4 Tony can't handle it!!! They said Rudd will practice and qualify so Tony will start in the back for the race.

My opinion on the driver substitution is that all drivers want to be in their car, they don't want someone else driving it. I think there's only been a handful of times since I started watching 5 yrs ago that a sub driver actually got in the car. Harvick last yr being dehydrated, Junior w/his burns, that's all I can think of...There are probably more. You know what ole DW says, sometimes the drivers feel better when they get in their car, suddenly they don't feel so bad anymore.

I'm sure he does. Hopefully he won't hurt to much at Dover till Rudd takes his place-Rudd was a good choice!

Re: Update on Tony

yes rudd was a good choice, evan though I don't like him.
he is a winner at dover in like 93 in the 5 car.
he may actually come out with some good points, been along time since rudd had good equiment, and he just didn't gel with the yates team.

should be interesting................I'd if he came back to win it.
