Kyle Busch is no Superman!

It’s kinda funny, Kyle Busch tried to race three different races in three different states and thinks he can be competitive at all three tracks. I think Kyle needs to concentrate on one Series and do his best to dominate the series. I know he’s dominating everything he touches, but it’s kind of unrealistic to think he can go out there and win all three races. If you ask me, I think Kyle Busch was exhausted and not up for racing on Sunday. The kid flew back and fourth all three days and probably didn’t get much sleep. Flying from Texas to Pocono alone would make me exhausted… especially if I’m sitting first class drinking up all the beer.

Kyle Busch is no superman by any means... he needs to concentrate on winning his first championship.

Re: Kyle Busch is no Superman!

Ron, I think you are right about Kyle Busch being exhausted after three races in three different track. During his post race interview, I noticed he looked like he had dark circles under his eyes. Earlier in the week, they weren't there. Definitely a sign of physical stress.

However, this was not like running the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 the same day. But, it is common for drivers to race the Nationwide series one day and the Cup series the next day.

The feat he was attemping would have been noteworthy because no one has ever done that before. Three races, three tracks and three states.

Kyle is living by the old rule "your better make hay while the sun is still shinning". Naturally, he wants to win the Cup championship. But, wouldn't it be great to win the Cup and the Nationwide championships the same year. I think he'll make that commitment later in the year. I don't think it is out of reach for him. He has the talent and uses it to make some unbelievable moves on the track.

The rest of this NASCAR season is really going to be interesting to watch.

Re: Kyle Busch is no Superman!

It's not uncommon for racers to race both the Nationwide Series race and the Sprint Cup race in the same weekend. But they are usually on the same track...

I'm a Kyle Busch fan but I just don't think this was one of his smarter choices.

Re: Kyle Busch is no Superman!

Yeah, but if he came away with a cup win the nationwide race would look like bad luck and KyB would be viewed as superman incarnate.

I doubt his sponsors will let him get away with a three-state schedule again, unless he's got a safety net big enough to stay on top while coming in 43rd... again.

Re: Kyle Busch is no Superman!

what did he have too loose? Why not try it? He isn't running for the championship in the truck or Nationwide. And in the cup series he almost had a race lead in the points.
That's the thing about the chase..... It doesn't matter as long as he's in the top 12 after richmond. Plus he has won 4 races so he is getting good bonus points.
I believe under the old point format he wouldn't have ran both of the other races. But with this format he is in a no loose situation.
Besides it was a very interesting story and he got plenty of press!

Re: Kyle Busch is no Superman!

Good effort by shrub though, thats a hard task to accomplish. 3 different races in 3 diffrent states in that short of time probably effected him, but he really does love to race.

I agree that he should focus on Sprint Cup. If he focuses on Cup alone, than he may be a lock for the championship because of how good he is and has been running. But more power to him if he can race nationwide and cup and win both the championships.

Yep he makes unbelieveable moves on the track like the one he made right into Jamie McMurray Sunday.

Re: Kyle Busch is no Superman!

I'm the last person to defend Kyle ... so let's pretend it's not about him.

These guys are racers! They'd probably race every day if they could. I see no problem running multiple races. I remember when Tony Stewart ran the Indy 500 and the CC 600 the same day. I think Robby Gordon did the same.

However, if you're in the Cup series, I don't think you should be able to win the Nationwide Series.

A question popped up in my aged head awhile back and it kind of fits with your above statement about these guys racing because they're "racers."

Why do they run the Cup Lite races? (I'll leave out for now the CTS because Kyle is the only driver driving regularly and he's doing it gratis if the media is to be believed)

I know every Sunday venue has a close-by short track which could use some good promotion. Instead of running rampant through the "have-nots" in Cup Lite, why don't a couple of these "We'll race just because we're 'racers' trot over to a short track in the vicinity and offer to run against the local stars for just meager show money?

Doing this they would give the Rensi's, the Fitz's, the Braun's, and CJM's et. al., of a developmental kid in one of the big team's car, a chance to be successful, AND give a local track which probably isn't exactly flush with cash, a much needed shot in the arm.

Surely they aren't doing this because of the relatively "easy money" they get from the sponsors and for finishing well in the race. Naw. It couldn't be THAT! All these guys are, are "racers," and they'll race "anywhere! RIGHT! Race "anywhere," as long as the money is right and enough media is present.

I won't say that there are none because I know Ken Schrader does (or at least used to) visit a lot of the local tracks. I would say that he is one of very few who do it though.
