Michael Waltrip

Waltrip's 261 qualifing streak came to an end on thrusday. On his qualifing lap he ran about 8 mph slower than the pole setter. But Waltrip will buy a ride in the Coca-Cola 600 to drive the #74 car of Derrike Cope.

Re: Michael Waltrip

With the above in mind, has anyone thought about taking up a collection so's we could help Darrell Waltrip buy a ride? Maybe in a taxi leaving the track BEFORE the Boogity crap!

Re: Michael Waltrip

I just saw that on the nascar.com. That really made me mad. Derrick Cope had a good qualifying spot, he's usually at the end! I would not have given up my spot on the track! Must have been some good money! Waltrip isn't doing anything this year-he should have just stayed home this weekend! I will boo for Waltrip this weekend-even though I like him I just don't agree with buying his ride!BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: Michael Waltrip

Sorry I just can't help it. I love both the Waltrip brothers. And if Cope wants to sell his ride, that's his business. No one forced him to.

Wamp as I have noted before you and I think a lot alike. If DW disappeared from the face of the earth tomorrow I wouldn't be in the least bit sad. I might even be happy that I wouldn't have to l isten to that stupidity anymore.

Now for Michael. If you can't qualify with what you brought then you need to pack it up and go home. He just eraned a whole lot of disrespect from me for pulling a stunt like that. Maybe he can buy the pole position too. I hope there will be an "*" in the records. This should not in any way be considered a start for him. It is pure bull crap.

Actually teams "buy" their way into a race every so often. I believe the last time this happened was at The Brickyard a couple of years, or so, ago.

As for an "*". it will happen. Mikey will get the driver points but Cope's team owner will get the owner's points. So, even when he runs and has his usual semi-awful race, he'll still drop a couple places in the owner point standings and will probably be permanently on the "qualify or go home (or buy yourself a spot) list. Ahhh... Life is very good.
