Danica Patrick (Indy 500) thread

She can stay in IRL. We do not need that circus in Nascar. Man she can do know wrong. Everyone is out to get her, and they are all worse drivers than her. She is the reason I only watch one IRL race (Indy) a year.

Congrats to Dixon!!

Re: Danika Patrick (Indy 500) thread

I tuned in a few times and it did seem that they were talking almost exclusively about her and she was running 6th or something like that. It does get to be a little sickening, but she and Helio seem to be the two that everyone wants to hear about and honestly it's probably the reason a good portion of people are watching in the first place. The commentators are talking to the average fan, so unfortunately if you want to watch a race you hav to put up with it.

In that respect, she kind of reminds me of a Junior, with different plumbing.

Except I was talking about the way she acts or thinks not her fans. I don't think Jr has the additude she does, though some(not all) of his fans do.

I once did the happy dance on a plane after beating the 10 year old next to me in a game of Uno...the kid and the kids mom almost died of laughter.

Face it you have that circus in NASCAR. Danica standing up for herself when she feels someone has done wrong is not a circus. If she was a male we would not be having this discussion. Some cannot stand that a woman is doing so well in a sport dominated by men. I say you go girl, stand up for yourself! I'm sure IRl is disappointed because you only watch one race a year. By the way it is "she can do NO wrong" and admin I mean that in the kindest way before I get an e mail chastising me!

Bob I do agree with that assessment. She does have a temper more along the Tony/Kyle style but as far as media attention they both are getting far more than their current stats actually demand.

As far as a circus ... they are both circus's when it comes to these situations. Someone will have to convince me that Briscoe intentionally whipped his car out at just the very moment that Patrick was coming down pit lane. Was it an unfortunate accident .... by all means. Had it been Alex Lloyd (WHO ????) who had been taken out this thread wouldn't exist.

Until Patrick becomes a proven commodity I still say she is nothing more than an average driver. I'd liken her to Kyle Petty in his best days. How long will the media prop up this little princess before they write her off. My favorite line concerning her is if her name was Daniel and she were a he, we'd never know he exists.

Re: Danica Patrick (Indy 500) thread

I am not a big race afficianado, but I think people need to cut her some slack. She did finish 4th in Indy a few years ago. She did win a race this year. She is a legitimate driver. She has a chance to win every time she gets on the track. Is she the best driver out there? Probably not, but she is good enough to hang with the other drivers. I liked the fact that she was angry. It shows she is competitive. I always got the feeling from her before that she was just happy to be there, now I think she has a desire to win.

Sorry Az, I disagree. I'll cut her slack but the attitude issue is plain old bull. She isn't that great. 4th place is nothing more than the third loser. Without looking it up tell me who was the 4th place driver two years ago ??? See .... it's all about her name, her gender and the media. Is she good ?? Is she better than the average driver ??? Maybe yes to both of those scenarios. Does she deserve this attention ??? Not a chance.
