| NASCAR to Enforce Rear-end Adjustment Rule NASCAR teams have been adjusting the rear end housing in excess of two degrees to create more sideforce as the car enters the corners. NASCAR rules limit the adjustment to one degree. Today's announcement will change that. It's not clear if NASCAR will enforce the rule at the Coca-Cola 600 this weekend. So, we will not have to adjust their TV sets to accommodate the cars "crabbing" down the straightaways. See the ESPN article at ESPN - NASCAR wants teams to cut down on rear adjustments - Racing |

| Re: NASCAR to Enforce Rear-end Adjustment Rule It will be really interesting to see how Kyle Busch drives after this weeks race. His car looks like one of the most crabbiest of them all. I can't wait to see who this effects and who it doesn't. Hopefully it levels out the playing field more. |

On another note, I heard it reported multiple times that some of the cars had trouble being pushed under the template machine prior to qualifying last week. I heard the Hornish's car was tracking so badly that they almost had to get a second ram for the rear wheels because when they pushed the car up and under the templates, the car's rear wheels almost didn't even hit the ramp! It didn't look much better tonight in quals.

| Re: NASCAR to Enforce Rear-end Adjustment Rule I would guess the one that got the most press. Especially after JG came out and complained about it. |

| Re: NASCAR to Enforce Rear-end Adjustment Rule Just a simple data point Having had the opportunity/priviledge to be responsible for both pre and post race inspection we can say without pause that all rules of measure were enforced/enforceable 100% of the time. Having seen this to be true at various and multiple levels and types of competition, it is real hard to imagine different at the top levels. Now, having stepped in that potential minefield, it may be of value to share that while all are enforced/enforcable, it is neither prudent nor reasonably possible to verify all points/element/references of measure on each and every entry, each and every time. Those here on this exchange of ideas and opinions who have competed know that their equipment is not torn down to the very last/least part before and/or after every event(s). Those who claim to be engaged in the competition yet make representations to the contrary with regards to this fact of enforcement versus verification deserve suspicion. Pre and post inspections we have participated in, as either a member of the governing body or as a competitor, could be counted upon to have items in the category of "always measured" (weight seemed an always), "regularly measured", "likely measured", "who knows if they'll ever measure", etc. Things would pop on and off the list at varying levels based on observations and suspicions. Kinda not unlike the more recent - "Is it me or did anyone else notice the strange appearance of misalignment of the equipment of late?". So what does all of this mean. For we here as a former gov-body member and competitor, what I'm seeing here is business as usual. But what do we know. |

NASCAR seemed to be so adamant about not letting teams get away with anything "in the gray areas" for this car. Why haven't they handed out any penalties concerning these adjustments if there outside the set rules? Last edited by Lefty Noob : 05-24-2008 at 01:03 PM. Reason: message approved |

Ain't it the truth. |

| Re: NASCAR to Enforce Rear-end Adjustment Rule IDK maybe I am wrong here, but my understanding there was no rule about the rear wheel adjustments. I guess gray or white area this was just something teams were allowed to do. Nascar deemed it was over the top and now want them to cut it back. |
