Biggest Mistake Chevy Made So Far...

Letting Gibbs go to Toyota!

Without Gibbs, Toyota likely fades away... BUT... just take a "gander" at the Nationwide Series... 6 straight! I'm not even going into the Cup series...

In sports, it's called "incentive" and "motivation"... Hopefully those of you who read this and have been involved in team sports understand what I'm talking about...

Kyle Busch is not only on a mission to show Hendrick up, he's on a mission to show all of NASCAR Nation that HE is better than Dale Junior! Kyle is 23, Dale Junior is over-30... ask yourself: who's in a better position to win multiple championships? While everyone is pissed at Kyle because he took the win away from Junior, it appears he's used that to motivate himself to kick some...

Here's the scenario: Dale Junior is the "knight" and Kyle is the "Dragon"

Re: Biggest Mistake Chevy Made So Far...

Success in NA__AR has always been cyclical. Yesterday it was Chevy. Before that Ford seemed unbeatable.

It's been this way in NA__AR since I saw my first race in 1958. Going to Gibbs had little to do with it, other than Gibbs has the argue ably best driver of the decade.

Chevy'll be back on top within the next four-five year. If they can't do it on their own, NA__AR will make accomodations for them, as they have in the past for all the mfg.'s

Re: Biggest Mistake Chevy Made So Far...

I agree that Chevy probably really regrets Gibbs leaving. Of course it's just what Toyota needed. Popularity wise Hendrick made a good switch, talent wise I don't think he did.

Re: Biggest Mistake Chevy Made So Far...

I wouldn't characterize chevy's emotion as "regret" .. remember, they are the ones who allowed the owners to black ball Gibbs when the rumor was floating around that Toyota had talked to JD. It was their "approval" of what the owners did that forced Gibbs out. I don't think there's any love there and that's what I think is partially fueling the JGR explosion.

But, I think the primary reason for JGR's phenomenal season to date is: THE COACH IS BACK! Everyone always forgets he's quietly getting his folks to excel and building cohesive teams at the same time. And his teams always seem to be better than the sum of their parts.

You are dead on there. The coach has made a difference, for sure!

I do think there are some personal motivations by shrub when he see's a Hendrick card in front of him.

Not against the drivers as much as Rick himself.

Re: Biggest Mistake Chevy Made So Far...

This year Kyle will be racin with a chip on his shoulder, that is a definite. He wouldn't be excellin as much if it wasn't for the organization he drives for now. Great equipment ( Grumble, Toyota, Grumble ), Great personel, and the Coach is back and has everyone and everythin inline. The key is for Kyle to continue to do what he has been doin, without screwin the pooch.

I don't think the Dragon cares what "has always been"...

if he did he'd stay home and watch the "fights" on TV and save his fire for other things .. like lighting the BBQ.
