Being racecar doesn't imply it isn't a <insert make here>.
But in this case it isn't a scenario where the carmaker actual designs and build the racercar. It's NASCAR and the teams (not makes) that do that.
The 'yota racecars are NASCAR + JGR car, chevys are NASCAR + HMS cars and so on and so on.
But then it was the carmakers pulled out a long time ago.

as the NASCAR rule book got thicker, the carmakers got scarcer.

If folks, or other racers, don't like it, then root for someone else, or beat them on the track. To me, it is un-American not to let them run.

I'm sure if you get 10 people to reply you'll get 10 different answers. This is just another change that takes away from NASCAR what it was when I was a few years younger. Back in the day they were all American cars with the exception of an occasional foreign make but never for a season. Since we have no idea how long you've been a fan it is tough to tell how you view this invasion. Another fear is that this will open the flood gates for everyone from Honda to Yugo. A few years ago when Cadillac changed its image part of the advertising campaign was "This isn't your Grandfathers Cadillac". Along with other reasons, Toyota isn't my NASCAR. Yes I'm very aware that they are all the same car now except for the decals (sigh .....)

I'm really OK with it .... but if I had my druthers we'd be runnin' "stock" cars. Then we'd see how good some of these golden boys really are.

Ya know, I agree with that. And I have a tough time rooting for them.

But...

I guess it just stands against what we really believe in.

Without getting too deep or politcal, and seeing what todays race cars became long before the Yotas got here, I just can't see denying them the chance to race!

I root against them every week, but I guess I'm just not willing to ban them!

Doesn't mean I'm any more right than anyone else, just makes that my feeling on it!

Personally, I like to pull for the underdog. Chevy has been dominant for way too long (remember, I'm a GM guy) with Ford right there with them. That's why I started pulling for Dodge when they "came back" and that's why I'm pulling for the 'Yotas. I've really never been a Honda fan, so I might skip them when they show up in 2010 (naw, that's just a rumor I'm starting ) But I'd like to see Mercedes or BMW come kick some hinies...

I find it difficult to explain. First off I have no problem with Toyota itself. I own to rice-mobiles so the foreign issue is non existent for me. The only example I can use that seems to come close is the one where many people want to change how baseball is played. Do away with umpires and rely on instant replays. If you want to walk a man then just say so and move him to first base. Most will argue that it will take away from the game as originally designed. NASCAR was an all American sport in many ways. Like many other things in our world it is changing. For some of us that change is difficult to accept. In my case it is pretty much that simple. Others have different issues, which I can respect as opinions. Fact is that Toyota is now a part of NASCAR and will be for years to come. Not a real big deal, just not my original view of NASCAR.

No offense taken. I have no idea where you get the elitist thing from.

But everyone can have an opinion. I just don't like Toyota.

I also don't like Ford or Dodge. I'm a lifelong Chevy fan. My Father retired from GM, so I have a big loyalty to them.

So, Clutch, what kind of automobiles traverse the roads in New Zealand: Toyotas, Fords, Dodges, and Chevys? And, which side of the road do you drive on down there?

That would certainly make a difference in how you see things from the drivers seat.
