Dale Jr. going retro with No. 88 Chevy

Dale Earnhardt will go retro with his No. 88 Chevrolet by running a Mountain Dew paint scheme similar to the one that Darrell Waltrip ran during 1981 and 1982. The green and white car and even Earnhardt's white helmet will mirror those used by Waltrip. -- USA Today

I heard that the #88 pit crew is even considering wearing the retro pit crew clothing including white pants!

They do it all the time in pro baseball and even pro football so why not in stock car racing? Should be very cool indeed!

Re: Dale Jr. going retro with No. 88 Chevy

I'm betting they don't wear the clothes for safety reasons.

There is some padding and fire resistant materials in them that make them expesive to do!

Has anyone noticed teams haven't been changing suits as much with the paint schemes?

It would be cool though!

I'd like to see a crew wear some Coke ones like Bobby Allisons crew did in the Early 70's!

Those get ups were LOUD!

That does look pretty cool...although my family is pretty old school when it comes to racing. Grandpa always said it was bad luck to have green on a race car.

I echo the above, I think that paint scheme is one of the coolest in a long time. I love it!

Thats true. But if I like it I'll buy it. I've been good so far, I've only bought one of his new cars and nothing else. I don't buy it now like I use to.

ahhhh, that's what happened. I was looking at the sales curve for Junior's trinkets and trash and noticed it didn't have as much positive slope as last year. I guess you made a big difference to his bottom line .. tsh, tsh, tsh.
