I'm a big Labonte fan, but facts are facts. He wanted a change, and he got it.

From the Jayski Archives! I don't need it, I remember it well, but to jog your memory!

UPDATE 3: Bobby Labonte and Joe Gibbs Racing will conclude an 11-year relationship at the end of the 2005 NEXTEL Cup Series season, Labonte and officials from JGR announced Nov. 7. Labonte’s future plans, as well as a replacement driver for the #18 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet, will be announced at a later date. “I regret to say that this is the final year that I will be at Joe Gibbs Racing,” Labonte said. “One of the things that made this decision so difficult was thinking of all the fans that have supported me at JGR throughout the past 11 years. This relationship has lasted a long time, and I hate that it has to end. Joe Gibbs and his family gave me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I want to thank them, and all the employees at JGR, for 11 years of hard work. I will always cherish the times at JGR, and the only thing that I regret is that we didn’t win more races and or championships. I wish everyone at JGR continued success in the future and I want to thank J.D. (Gibbs, president of JGR) for giving me the chance to be released from my contract early and letting me pursue other opportunities.”(Joe Gibbs Racing)(11-7-2005)

No biggie. Just thought I'd look it up. I couldn't remember exact details, so I had to research it!

Glad to help!

What then? You have all these young guys coming in, where would that leave Bobby? Probably without a ride then.
well if he does good in the rcr they can just give him a contract extension it's not rocket science.and labonte is being loyal he came to help them rebuild and some say it's not working and i have no idea where they get that idea he finishes great compared to where the 43 car was befor he drove it.if labonte stays than im happy cus it will show what kind of driver he is if he goes to rcr im gona be happy to see him be competitive again.

He was good with Fatback. I could never understand why they fired him.

I always wondered if that was the trigger that got Bobby wanting out. That team was in 6th place when Fatback was fired.

I was not pleased!

I shouldnt have really put that in this post. The reason I say that is because hiring him was one of a series of bad decisions by the Wood Bros. that has them in their current predicament.

Now in relation to Bobby Labonte and Fatback as crew chief, what did he do so well for the team? Didnt he have only 2 wins in a year and a half?..or am I mistaken

That is still two more wins than they had the rest of the time Bobby was there. And the whole time JJ was there!

Just sayin!

Also, Bobby was 6th in points when Fatback left, and ended up missing that first Chase!

#$%^#$%^#

I was not happy!
