Nascar as PPV event

How much, if anything, would one pay to see a race in his home if it was only available as a pay-per-view event. I like the idea of no commercial breaks, but I sure could see this becoming costly.

I paid to watch a West Virginia game. And guess what? COMMERCIAL'S Yes they have commercials on PPV too. I would get to see very few if they were on PPV as I don't have the income. I get to go to the Alanata race once a year because my son lives 15 miles from the track and he works for Delta so it don't cost much for me to fly there. Otherwise I'm to poor. I don't think I'm the only one in the poor boat. So please don't even hint to the provider to put our races on PPV.

Re: Nascar as PPV event

I wouldn't pay. No way in hell. They have too much $$ as it is. I'd find another sport to become fanatically involved with. Maybe golf. Then I wouldn't have to take those pills that LSC and me keep needing. When Nascar.com switched to having to pay to watch qualifying stats, I quit watching it (most of the time I'm at work during qualifying). I found another free site I could watch it on.

Re: Nascar as PPV event

I would think that NASCAR is well aware that it is pretty much a blue collar sport and not many people would be willing to pay for it. Naturally it would depend on what the fee was but I have to believe also that they get more money from running 6 PAID commercial breaks way to many times during the race. I would think that it is a scenerio they have given thought to but basically have dismissed.

Smoke and I would have to decide PILLS or PPV ?????

They tried that about 9 or 10 years ago for a Michigan race. It must have bombed because they didn't do it again. I know I didn't watch it.

They kinda are making the allstar race a PPV. I mean they are going to move it to SPEED channel. Not everyone has the speed channel. You have to pay extra for it

Did they change their mind again? The last report I saw The All-Star race was going to be on speed. That was the only race. Atleast that's the last report nascar.com showed. They had the schedule posted and what races were covered by who.

I'm not following this very clear and it's probably due to lack of sleep. I'm talking about when NBC leaves, ESPN comes in and so forth... the All-Star race is suppost to be on Speed channel. I know it was on FX this year( I have espn and FX). Clarify Smoke please. I want to get on the same page as you. I hate not being on the same page.

No it's not covered in my cable. They don't even have a package with it in it, atleast at last look they didn't. I'm not sure how much more it is. If I don't have it by then I'll hit Hooters or some sports bar. Then again I may be married by then so it probably won't matter.... oh well

Oh that sucks. Not the marrige thing, congrats! But have you looked into getting a dish? The pix is incredible and there's this channel guide that you can click on and it will tell you the description of the event. Like on Speed, I can click on someting that says Nascar whatever and it will say "cup qualifying". I wouldn't go back to cable.

Well, I live in apartment complex. No dish allowed. My parents have directtv, pretty boss. I would love to have it. Then again if the marriage thing happens, I'll probably have... no scratch that, I will have a dish then. Still a long ways off though.
