DEI picks up option on Truex's contract

Martin Truex Jr. is staying at DEI for at least another year. Dale Earnhardt Inc. exercised its option to retain Truex, a rising NASCAR star driver from Stafford Township, through the 2009 season, ESPN.com reported Monday. Truex is the top full-time driver at DEI since Dale Earnhardt Jr., son of the company's late namesake, left the team following last season to join Hendrick Motorsports. Truex earned his first Cup victory last year and was one of 12 drivers to qualify for the season-ending 10-race Chase for the Cup. -- Press of Atlantic City

No surprise after last year, but he's been pretty quiet this season, hasn't he?

Maybe the organization is faulty.... which would lead to faulty equipment?

The driver and organization are faulty. Truex is good on a couple of tracks and at best mediocre on others.

Re: DEI picks up option on Truex's contract

After listening to Max Siegel's interview yesterday at Dale Earnhardt Day in Mooresville, it doesn't sound to me like the deal with Truex, Jr is done yet.
See what you think...

Truex is a very solid driver, not great or anything, but definitely good. I think he will be in the mix for the last couple spots in the chase again this year. Personally I see him leaving after 2009, but that is obviously far away, so who knows what will happens.
