Silly Season .... Consider this ..... What if ...... Tony is not released from his contract with JGR until 2009 but does get an offer from RCR. If Childress decides he can wait another year to add the 4th car where oh where will that leave Bobby Labonte ? All hypothetical.

| Re: Silly Season .... Consider this ..... methinks once the King accepted the idea of moving away from home, he's become gung-ho about improving every aspect of the venerable Petty Enterprises. and if that means setting son down because of poor performance, that's what'll happen. methinks Kyle got the message. qualified 15th this week and might have finished better than 32nd, but was collected in one of those last two wrecks and limped to the finish. OTOH, Bobby never seemed to get the handle, starting and finishing 34th. sometimes all it takes is a determined cowboy boot in the butt .. I'm very interested in seeing how things go for them over the next month or so...

Re: Silly Season .... Consider this ..... I'm not afraid of Bobby losing the RCR ride. GMills isn't going to sit their sponsorship for a year. RCR and I'm sure GMills would want a past champion to take the ride to secure starting positions next year. Out of all the "possible" free agents that only leaves BLab and Stewy. I don't think Childress is interested in a bidding war to win Stewart. It would take ownership and/or a really really huge contract to land Stewart. I don't think Childress is ready to give up a piece of RCR. If he broke the bank to sign him, then it would take a huge sponsorship package to keep him in the car. That is something I'm sure GMills isn't ponying up for the hood of the 33, and I doubt they would give up half the season to allow another sponsor to come in and share the bills/hood.

Re: Silly Season .... Consider this ..... I heard on the news today Mars Candy has agreed, in principle, to buy Wrigleys for $23 BILLION .. in cash!!! That means they're picking up one of JPM's sponsors (Juicy Fruit). It's likely they'll become the largest Cup sponsor.

Re: Silly Season .... Consider this ..... You want silly? Smoke leaves JGR early... Hendrick releases Mears... Smoke ends up sharing the building with Junior! Hey, as long as we are getting it on with hallucinogenics, why the heck not?!?
