Rumours around the garage

From Yahoo

Around the garage

Johnny Sauter will drive the No. 70 Chevrolet at Richmond next weekend...
Hearing that the Caterpillar sponsorship currently at Bill Davis Racing will end up on the No. 31 Chevrolet at Richard Childress Racing next year, replacing AT&T...
Sprint Cup Series director John Darby said he doesn't anticipate the restart procedures to change for top tour any time soon. There has been some speculation that lap down cars will go to the rear and the leaders would start in double-file formation... NAPA could be the heir apparent to replace Craftsman tools as the sponsor for NASCAR's Truck Series.

Interesting stuff.........so maybe RCR getting General Mills and Caterpillar......man they must have good salespeople

So, I guess the rumor that Cousin Carl might jump to RCR and then UPS would sponsor him is out the window? I thought that would have been a stretch anyway.

I still think a Mears/Truex Jr. swap is realistic, as is Newman going to RCR I think Ryan might be a better fit with Cat than he would be with general Mills, but...?. UPS going with Roush to replace Office Depot is, as far as I'm concerned, about a done deal.

Just some random thoughts.

Re: Rumours around the garage

Too early for "Silly Season" for me...

Wait! Didn't someone say something about Tony Stewart leaving JGR for <insert team name here>??? Okay, I guess it's NOT too early after all!

Btw, on a totally non-related note, I can easily tell that Clutch is not of these shores...

When someone says "Rumours" (y'know with the letter "u" where it doesn't belong) you know he/she's speaking the "Queen's English"! (I know this first hand 'cause I grew up with it!)

gee .. and all this time I thought the "New Zealand" next to "Location:" was the real indication...

Clutch, do you really speak the "Queen's English"? If so, another myth shattered as I thought it would be more Aussie than British.

I remember that. That was so stupid. I can only imagine he was thinking "maybe no one will see me get out and pull the fender out" !!!

I heard today that, unless a miracle happens, this will be Bill Davis' last year in Cup. From what I heard he'll only run the CTS.

IF this proves out it'll be yet another team with tenure and a history of success in Cup joining Morgan McClure and others.

I wonder if NA__AR is as happy with the mega-team concept as they were? I wonder if they'll do anything to stop the hemorrhaging or if it is really their place to do so?

Only if it adds cash to their pocket. Pure & simple.
