| Re: Fox NASCAR prerace show to add comedian? I think a lot of fans would like that but we've never really been subjected to that before. Once in a while when they have a fair amount of time between the end of the race and the beginning of the next show or sporting event being televised they will do some post race chatter but seldom is it ever scheduled. Shorten the races to a pre-determined amount of time and then they could schedule a post race program. |

I've lost track of the times a statement such as your's has been made Vince, but it is becoming a common thread; the average and/or typical NA__AR Cup fans much prefers a good, informative and substantive POST-race show to an inane, basically meaningless and redundant pre-race show moderated by people who actually think they contribute something to the day's event.

| Re: Fox NASCAR prerace show to add comedian? I know I've chimed in on this topic before, but.... IMNSHO, pre-race should be filled with team news (all the teams, not just the "stars") from the previous week, synopsis of the practice(s) and qualifying plus an interview with, at most 5 drivers not to exceed 1 minute each, about their outlook for the imminent race. Fans, I think, would be particularly interested in seeing the new paint schemes and hear about significant events in the team's week as well as interviews with gas men, tire changers, and wives (and kids!) That means it needs to be mostly pre-recorded... I'm not adverse to the Victory Lane interview of the winning driver, crew chief and car owner, but anything else ought to be moved to the "post-race show" which should last about half an hour to forty five minutes at most. Post race should be filled with all the "replays" and evaluations of the race as well as interviews with a minimum of the top 5 finishers in reverse order of their finish (saving the best for last!!!) as well as any other drivers/crew chiefs/owners who happened to "stop by"... That means it is not scripted and many of these bozos in front of the camera are gonna have to do some homework 'cause they won't know before-hand who they'll be interviewing!!! (with the exception of Dick Bergren who seems to know more about every team than just about anybody on either side of the camera!!!)

| Re: Fox NASCAR prerace show to add comedian? A little "levity" is always welcome, as long as it doesn't get in the way of the broadcast! If Larry the Cableguy is this comedian, I think he would compliment the broadcast crew because people know him and accept him and as much as I can tell, his act is clean so he won't have to adjust much to G-rated broadcasts. Now, if you get someone who is completely out of the mix, like say, George Lopez or Dana Carvey (like they did in New York at last year's presentation) then you are asking for trouble because it'll probably be like forcing a square peg into a round hole and you're creating a Dennis Miller situation all over again! Frank Caliendo is an exception, imo. Why? Because he's a chameleon. Give him enough time, he'll be able to mimic DW, Larry Mac or anyone on the current staff and if someone like him can get it going, I think it offers a multitude of comic possibilities. I, for one, would love to see Caliendo mimic Tim Brewer and, yes I am aware that Brewer is not part of Fox but it would be a side-splitter to see what Caliendo could do with that "cut-away" car!

| Re: Fox NASCAR prerace show to add comedian? 2-5 minutes would be OK depending on who it is and what they are doing. I don't need an hour of even the best comics. |
