Re: Is Kyle Busch the next "KING" of nascar?

...after a 2 week slump Kyle wins again at Infineon Raceway on the road course. Was his 2 week slump because he stretched himself too thin by racing NW and the CTS and didnt focus on cup?

Fact.....2 weeks without a win doesnt constitute a slump!

...and now that he is going to focus on cup......everyone should be worried

Combining wins in Cup Lite, CTS and Cup (which was not possible when Richard was winning his 200; the GN teams/drivers didn't rape the Sportsman Series then and there was no CTS) I think 200 wins by The Shrubster is not likely but possible.

I hope he doesn't do it, but he might, as an outside chance.

Did you see the poll on jayski.com last week, Clutch? The week after Junior won the poll question was, "Do you think Junior has broken out of his slump?" Talk about a question which displays the narrow-mindedness of some people! Junior had 10 top ten's in 14 races, one pole and a total of three front row starts, and was third in points and he's in a slump???!!!

So, I guess, with a mindset such as that, two weeks without a win might constitute a "slump." But I don't think rational people would.

Re: Is Kyle Busch the next "KING" of nascar?

You'll never hear me call Kyle Busch the "King" of NASCAR until he wins 201 races and 8 championships. But after watching him put down two perfectly tight donuts, side by side, last weekend, I'd say he's the "King" of burnouts. Even though I'm not much for doing that after a win, it was probably the best I've ever seen in NASCAR.

I can only imagine how much the current 36th place driver (J.J. Yeley) would like to be in that slump. Better yet how about Kevin Harvick. He's in 13th !!

I liken that kind of rationale to University of Texas Football. If they aren't in the top 10 vying for the national championship, they're "in a slump!" And around here, that means the coach had better have some "insurance" to keep his job...

Coke Zero 400.....Daytona night race and Kyle gets his 6th win, in what I have to say was an exciting race.

At this point in time ...Kyle is certainly the heir apparent

They said the same thing about Bill Elliot and Tim Richmond in the 80's.
They said the same thing about Jeff Gordon in the 90's.

It takes a lot more then 3 or 4 good seasons to be put on the same level as say Richard P./ David P./Cale Y./Bobby A. and even ol' DW.

Thou I don't think we will ever see another driver break the 100 win mark. in this day and age I think you are going to need at least 60 wins and a few championships to be considered legendary as the guys mentioned above.

Could well be true, but Shrub is young, and if anyone has a shot, it'd have to be him, don't you think?

Kyle has 10 wins, he needs 90 more so he will have to average 6 a year for the next 15 years! Not saying he can't do it but he would have too stay hot for a long time.

But Joey Lagono... now just ask everyone....It's a lock!!

Re: Is Kyle Busch the next "KING" of nascar?

That win two nights ago was More of a Chance then Skill...
the Chance was that Jeff-who obviously had the winning car, got spun out by Cousin Carl, and he drove away against an inferior plate racer...

i cant believe how close that was........ i'm still frustrated

You and my husband both, as well as millions of other Jeff Gordon fans.

Chance, yes, but skill to have been in the front to take advantage of the move that Jeff Gordon made to have been able to get around him. Remember, Shrub had to fight his way back to the front from 37th.

Gotta admit that was a wild finish. Even closer than Shrub's loss against McMurray last year.

I suspect any winning driver will admit to being in the right place at the right time more than once. Once in a while those will turn into victories.

I disagree. KuB's win last week was chance. KyB's win was based on talent and he used it to get up front.

I think KyB used talent to get to the front. I believe he planned the slow start to try and keep the ones behind from gettin a run on him, and it worked out, just not in the way he thought it would.
