'tis the classic story of the crown prince and the vile interloper, each vying for the keys to the kingdom... which will grab the brass ring and be the first to rule? <turn the page! I'm anxious to see how this turns out!!!>

| Re: Is Kyle Busch the next "KING" of nascar? Is Kyle Busch the next "KING" of nascar? No! He has already taken that title. We just haven't crowned him yet. If he can keep doing what he's done so far this year and win the points championship, get the crown ready. |

I believe that what must be kept in mind is that being "King of NA__AR" is a nebulous term which is anything but secure. Like a government head in a Third World country, all it take is some sort of coup (a slide in Kyle's performance and an upsweep in another driver's), or a lost vote of confidence (the media deciding upon some other driver to shower its attentions on) and <PRESTO!> Shrub is back in the bleachers and out of the box seats. But, based on his current performance, Kyle's sucking all the air out of the balloon. We will be better able to assess his title in November.

| Re: Is Kyle Busch the next "KING" of nascar? Heres a cool stat...from yahoo He has, after all, been in one victory circle or another in each of the last six weeks, whether it be in the Cup, Nationwide or Craftsman Trucks Series. With that kind of success, it's hard to be humble, especially when you're a 23 year old dominating your supposed superiors. "I wouldn't say I'm not impressed with what I've done," he said. "I'm very grateful and humble that I've been able to win six weeks in a row."

| Re: Is Kyle Busch the next "KING" of nascar? Been interesting to watch the swing of feelings associated with KB. Seems to have gone from something in/around late last year timeframe when he was in a fan category/measurement that questioned whether his ability was more a function of luck coupled with the very best of circumstances (equipment, team, personnel, etc.), and when his falling out of a race was seen as the best thing that could happen in/for the event/series. There was then too the feeling that his move to a/any Toyo team was the final coffin nail because clearly (?) Toyo in only their second year would at best pop in only very occasionally in the Win, Place, or Show positions. *************************************** Then there's now when increasingly even those heavily inclined toward another team, driver, manufacturer, series give indication that the one place on the track at any given point in the event where you can count on a race going on is in, at, or around whatever vehicle KB is piloting. Interesting too that while some continue to hang on to some level of question with regard to some aspect of his skill, KB has pretty well, perhaps even single-handedly (?), cancelled all doubt with regards to Toyo. ******************************************* Had to wonder watching the finish of the Nationwide race last night whether anyone in the HMS garage/invested other(s) had a fleeting thought around: "Geez, thought surely we'd not hear from him (KB) tonight with his not being in the JGR equipment. And we thought surely we coulda/woulda/shouda finally stop the JGR/Toyo ownership of this series. Somebody tell me again why his leaving us was for better race day results". Well, they were right about the JGR series ownership being brought to an end. Hope KB stays in the race all day today, win or not. It's the one place on the track where something fun is likely to be going on. |

Last year I saw him as being arrogant; just generally acting like a jerk without results to back it up. Being under the Hendrick thumb obviously frustrated him and it showed every time someone stuck a microphone in his face. In a word, he came off as a stone-solid schlemiel. This year he has many of the same traits but the difference is that he's not connected to Hendrick's dictates and he's performing to a level that backs up his youthful errors. Now, he's just "fun." I concur. |
