I know there have been threads related to NASCAR movies, but I'm finally getting a chance to watch "Talladega Nights". It's not even 30 minutes in, and this has to be the most ridiculous movie I have ever seen. It's Will Ferrell doing what he does best, but I have to say that this should not even be considered as a NASCAR movie.

Isn't one of the actors the same guy who was in "Days of Thunder"? The guy who's dad was killed on the track? "Days of Thunder" wasn't realistic, but at least it was entertaining.

I'm changing the channel now ...

you know some of his stuff like anchorman I didnt get but this movie was funny as hell, I dont get why so many people dislike this film. He named his two kids walker and texas ranger, c'mn..

Talledega Nights is a very funny movie at points, especially if you like Farrell's movies.

However, the plot is weak, and completely falls apart in the last half hour of the film.

Never watched it bu I do find Ferrel funny in situations like SNL. Full length features just don't work for him ... in my eyes.

I never found it entertaining and only mildly funny in spots plus mostly disgusting .. unfortunately some of my family members think it's hilarious and watch it every chance they get (they're kids, young teenagers, actually) causing me to find something else to do somewhere else

... but then I don't like horror flicks or anime either.

I agree totally, Penny. I thought it was utter rubbish. But then, I feel that way about all Will Ferrell movies.

I thought his act was funny the first time or two but now all his movies are all the same tired out BS. Tall. nights/blades of glory/the new basketball movie... it's the same. I think most of the public are now tired of it too... his last movie bombed.

i love the movie talladega nights i was laughing through the whole thing.and it's not suppose to be a serious movie so why would it matter if it's not realistic as nascar really is.idk maybe some peoples sence of humore is diffrent.

i guess im the only one who is till a fan of will's.he is very funny and makes good money why should he change?it could just be me for some reason i love watching the stupid comedy movies.

I though Talladega Nights was great. Only non Nascar fans would even consider it a Nascar movie. That was the one thing I was thinking when I watched it. I thought this is a comedy not a Nascar movie. If your looking for realism in it then I think you taking it a little too serious. The movie was meant to be wild and off based. That is what makes it funny. Plus they do take some funny shots at the Networks and Nascar. Like at the end when they are racing at Talladega and the "biggest wreck they ever seen" starts happening they cut to a commercial break in the middle of it. My mom and I started busting out laughing in the middle of the theater and we were the only ones. Why because it was a direct hit at the networks and their too many commercials. It was also something that only a true Nascar fan would know. I think it was entertaining and had a little bit for both the non fan and the true fan.

Now it was no Major Leagues which is the best sports comedy ever. It was still good though.

I certainly agree with Jeffrey4396 about the movie's poke at NASCAR and TV's commercialism. I'm sure all these NASCAR drivers do commercials for Japanese TV as well. It was also a hit on "Days of Thunder". I think in a lot of ways in was more true to NASCAR than we'd like to admit.

I thought the funniest part of the movie was when Will Farrell stabs himself in the leg to prove that he's paralyzed and then the way his crew chief tried to remove it by wiggling the knife back and forth and then trying to use another knife to pry it free.

PPS if you made it through 30 minutes you did good. I think I made it to about 15. What I didn't get about it was how much NASCAR was hyping the movie for weeks on end until it finally came out. It was down right sickening of how much promotion it got. Then when it finally comes out it totally was making fun of NASCAR and their fans, exactly the opposite of the image NASCAR has been trying to get away from. That was the real mystery to me.

You lasted about as long as I did, Penny. Speaking only for myself but a film about stupidity and and people who couldn't spell c-a-t if you spotted them the "c" and the "t," do not equate to humor for Tanner.
