Looking for the Microsoft Corp.-sponsored No. 49 Toyota in upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup races? Don't look too hard; the car's on the sidelines. One month after Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ: MSFT) Small Business division said it will sponsor Ken Schrader's Toyota Camry for the 2008 season, the car's owner said another primary sponsor deal has fallen through, and the team will sit on the sidelines until as late as the racing season's fall events. According to BAM Racing team owner Beth Ann Morgenthau, another sponsor -- an unnamed private company -- couldn't raise enough capital and the team will sit out NASCAR races until "likely ... in the fall." -- Puget Sound Business Journal (Seattle)

See the other thread about BAM racing where I posted the interview with the co-owner. Phone call was interrupted and she called back and said she was suprised it wasn't the phone or electricity cut off for non payment. Stated they may look elsewhere in motorsports other than NASCAR to run as the money you spend compared to what you can in return now is just not financially sound. She hinted at having spent $50 million of personal money so far.

Microsoft is to computer software what Dale Junior is to NASCAR! I don't care if it's Small Business or GW BASIC or DOS or whatever because it doesn't matter because when Microsoft puts its name on a product, it's usually GOLDEN!!! (Except BOB) When all is said and written a hundred years from now, Microsoft will STILL be around and Bill Gates' virtual reality self will still be giving speeches about dominating the markets... That's how big these guys are!

For BAM to get Microsoft and to lose them is probably the worst thing this team could have done in it's history! They have no idea... sad...

I dont believe that Microsoft small business was the sponsor that they are talking about. They only sponsored their last race and were going to do another or more, later.........Beth Ann did not refer to them as the major sponsor who is not living up to expectations
