| Re: Pre race interuppted! Okay, I was pissed when they left the race for the the baseball game, but in retrospect it was probably the right. If you took a national survey, whether you like it or not, baseball would be more popular than NASCAR. Then what two teams were playing also had a big part of it. Yankees-Red Sox is easily the biggest rivalry in pro sports. Most people who are just plain baseball fans watch when they play. FOX made the right move, whether we like it or not.

| Re: Pre race interuppted! I know I'm in the minority here, but I also think they did the right move. Why? Because the end of a sporting event - no matter what it is - is more important to televise than the beginning of another. You see it all the time, in every sport. They stick with the first event to conclusion and join the second in progress. If it was the race end bumping the start of the ballgame, it'd still be the right move. That's just the way it's done, and to me at least, it makes perfect sense.

| Re: Pre race interuppted! There's another thread on this board about the length of the pre-race shows in NASCAR and I touched on this interruption there but I think it all boils down to importance. Pre-race shows are long and sometimes boring and maybe they could be shortened - although I, for one, enjoy them in their current form - but the thing that really got to me is interrupting the "sacred" portions of the pre-race, if I may be allowed to use that term! Forget all the other hoopla and hype surrounding the pre-race but I have grown accustomed to hearing the national anthem every time before a race starts. I listen to the invocation and prayer, and find those two things to be the "sacred" portions because unless you are at a live football (or other pro sport except maybe boxing) game, television never shows the viewer the national anthem (except for the Superbowl) and they certainly don't have a prayer. I think that because Fox decided to shove the baseball game down the throats of the race viewers and have us miss the anthem, prayer and "Start your engines" they really hit a nerve because they messed with tradition. If Fox had cut away when DW and the folks in the booth were talking but got back to the prayer, national anthem and stuff, I don't think there would be such anger. Take away the stuff that's trivial but please, not those things that matter to us!

| Re: Pre race interuppted! apparently the ball game was delayed for a couple of hours due to rain. Why didn't Fox switch the game to FX when it came back because they had to know it would run over the start time of the race. And am I the only one who noticed after they did finally switch to the race that they replayed the start with McReyolds waving the green flag and by damn we still had to hear the boogity boogity |

| Re: Pre race interuppted! I'm sorry but if missing a couple of laps, a mass prayer, a fly-over and the rest of the ceremonies is the most we have to complain about, we're not in too bad of a shape. Even with the recent glitch (and I think FOX handled it sloppily and it was mildly irritating) what we have today is better (Even with DW and Larry Mac)than what we had a decade ago when only about 80% of the races were televised live.

| Re: Pre race interuppted! Geeeeesh, I didn't think it was that big a deal. What action did we really miss ? I think we miss more during commercial breaks than we did this race. For the most part I do enjoy the pre-race stuff but to miss it once in a while doesn't tip my cart over.

| Re: Pre race interuppted! I want you all to stop bad mouthing my New York Yankees. They are my favorite baseball team. I had a double header Saturday. I got to see my favorite baseball team loose and then I got to see my favorite NASCAR driver loose, too. What a day! |
