Postulate:

Jack Roush will do whatever it takes to get UPS away from MWR and go with Roush.

Reason: Jack is in a constant feud with Toyota and their competition director, Lee White. Jack has his thong in a tight wad over the recent "purloined" sway bar and valve spring. UPS is probably Mikey's most profitable sponsor (it's bigger than NAPA) and their marketing agent, Zak Brown, last Sunday, indicated that they are looking at team owners which might put them on a competitive par with FedEx.

Jack will see acquiring the UPS sponsor as a sure-fire way to "pay back" both Toyota and Waltrip.

Thoughts?

My thought is that UPS will be up for grabs anyway. I'm not really sure anyone is going to have to steal them away from MWR.

For the reasons noted Jack may well go after UPS to prove some point. I also believe that UPS wants exposure and with DJ gone the exposure will be far less. He had the face we expected to see associated with UPS.

I expect that Jack will be trying to get them and UPS will be looking for a new home. In respect to my opinion .... what will happen to MWR ?

I would venture to say NA__AR already feels that it has too many teams each week anyway.

I am of the opinion that MWR will become the next 4-car team in NASCAR, after Roush cuts down to, and RCR builds up to, 4.

I could be wrong. There are a lot of threats to MWR, and they could prove insurmountable. MWR could easily disappear.

But the way I see it right now, MWR is the best situated of the weaker teams in NASCAR. They just need to get some better drivers, and fast. MW himself is going to have to step away from his car at some point, I think.

Jack Roush already has a load of sponsors. And, next year, he going to have to get rid of one team or do some magic and create a Jane Roush Racing (or what ever his wife's name is) for that team.

I think there's more to it than the part etc...

The guy for Toyota who said Rousch intentionally cheated with the Carl Edwards deal is/was a former Rousch employee who left on bad terms. He was the one quoted in the USA today article that pissed Rousch off.

A week later Jack goes off on Toyota about them having his part. Notice he didn't go off on MWR who actually did have the part. He also waited 6 months after the part was missing before he went public with it.

I suspect if Ragan manages to get into the Chase, AAA may very well stay - as long as those old folks keep paying their insurance premiums, that is...
